house of the dead and time crisis were fun ones. Goat probably Street Fighter or >>7305993 though

Special mention to The Simpsons beat em up, turtles in time, double dragon, golden axe and D &D Shadow over Mistara. Beat em ups were repetitive and tedious by we all were sucker for them still.

Terminator 2 was also hype as hells.

Probably because shmups are a genre that evolved very slowly over time, with new pieces constantly being added by different games, so there's not really one game that stands out among them as being "THE shmup" in the same way Street Fighter II is. It's the same reason few racing games have been mentioned (although I think Daytona USA holds that title for its genre. Game was so fucking good you can still find it in modern arcades 30 years later).

The best experience I can think of is Super Monaco GP, had a moving seat and wheel that couldn't be replicated at home easily. It was just before polygons so this is what I thought the future of video game graphics would be.

There was also this namco game called prop cycle with a giant screen, had increadible graphics and good cartoon style artwork.

Virtua on was also good with the twin sticks as well as scud race.

I played outtrunners well after polygons were the norm and I was still very impressed wtih the graphics and I wanted more graphics in thsi style.

Despite how good all these games were after putting in $1 and getting at most 2 minutes of play, I felt I did not get good value at the time for what I paid. I kinda felt like I got ripped off a lot of the time.

This killed the arcade games IMO. When the "cinematic" games (Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy VII...) appeared, you got 20 times more play time, hence 20 times more value for your money, compared to the arcade games.

Lots of people especially dealers like to throw insane numbers up because normies who want a game for their rumpus room don't know any better
>talking about buying the original cabinet and all.
Same. Only one I could see fetching 3k out of the ones you mentioned would be Outrun but only a pristine deluxe sit down. SF2, KoF, and upright Outruns are easily less than 1k.
>know better places
Yeah, anywhere but Google kek join some arcade forums and collector groups. You still see people throw insane prices from time to time to see what sticks but most everyone calls them out for being greedy pricks.

I live in CT and there was a local arcade here that was really kino.

Games I can remember being there:

>all the classics like space invaders, donkey kong, pac-man
>Raiden DX
>Mortal Kombat 2
>Street Fighter 2
>Star Wars Trilogy Arcade
>Jurassic Park
>X-Men
>Simpsons
>Sonic Adventures
>Marvel vs. Capcom 2

Closed in maybe 2006-2007. Sad times.

Shipping inside the US is absurdly expensive, until you start to find the guys who've been moving them around for 3 decades. IIRC there's a similar group in the UK, but no clue about the mainland. Check your local social media. A lot of the old e-groups and whatnot migrated to facebook.
