Thats an overstatement. Even in the arcade, everyone knew to steer clear of this piece of shit only time anybody ever watched, was when some dude who worked there would unlock the coin slot and beat the game with like 1 ir 2 deaths.

Figuring out what to push and when to push it was a fun puzzle, for a short time. Watching the animations was fun, for a short time. It's a novelty game and it's shallow, yes. But people can indeed like novelties... if only for a short time. Which is long enough, since it was initially an arcade game.

Also, some people may like it for longer periods of time because of nostalgia or because they primarily are interested in the animation or because they appreciate the history of it or for some other specialized reason like that.

Also, you're stupid.

I'll definitely play Brain Dead 13 again over The Walking Dead or The Wolf Among Us.

If you don't care about animation, I understand why you wouldn't care about the game. I'm just surprised how this point alludes the trolls in this thread.

A lot of us grew up appreciating animation through video games. If you played a lot of Aladdin or Castle of Illusion or Hercules then the appeal of Dragon's Lair is abundantly clear.

looked like a good game to get drunk playing with at an arcade with friends during its heyday (especially with how interesting the CRTs would've displayed these sorts of games at the time) but it probably really is only a "you should've been there when it was a big deal" sort of thing. a cool fad that wowed people with what games can pull off with the right technology and kind of forgotten as a cool novelty for its time.

still pretty impressive either way though, considering the amount of data the arcade machines would've had to process to display and play this game without lagging like crazy.

It was great, I have a prodigious photographic memory, so I can remember most of the game placements in each arcade too. ah yes, at Chuck E. Cheese Pizza Time Theater they had Dragon's Lair near the top of the steps of the second level of the arcade, which was huge back then. Next to it was Tempest. Good times.
The Nintendo Playchoice 10 with SMB was the most popular, believe it or not. Guys would put up lines of quarters and it was up to everyone how many plays to each man was tolerated.

The only thing i remember about this game is that whenever it got ported to anything in the 90's it always got average to bad reviews. People sometimes liked the gimmick at best, but never once liked the "gameplay" and had trouble calling it that. It was never considered to be a good game and certainly not a must-have game for any platform.

Dragon's Lair being only QTEs is kinda crummy in terms of gameplay, but in all honesty, that's not what anyone plays or remembers the game for. Had it not been for the stellar animation by Don Bluth it probably would've been forgotten. Most of the fun is seeing how the player can die/what the castle looks like.

I love the Don Bluth animation in these games. Such a rarity. Dragon's Lair 2 Time Warp is more entertaining than the first game. I like the animation for Space Ace, but I feel like it is a weaker game. I am partial to these types of games. I realize that they are simon, or basically just QTE's. But it was always great to see for the animation. Not a Bluth game, but I also really like Revenge of the Ninja (Ninja Hayate)
