Are there any games that play BETTER on an emulator than the original hardware?

>> No.7300826

No, emulating is universally an inferior experience and anyone who prattles on about widescreen mods, hi rez texture packs, higher frame rates, or bug fixes is merely trying to justify their "cheaping out" and not getting the original hardware together.

The GC ports of RE2 and RE3 played via the custom Dolphin emulators with ML upscaling play way better than any other version of RE2 and RE3 that I have played. I have both games for PS1 and will likely never play them again. Playing them on my PC with that emulator felt so damn responsive and smooth. I do not see any reason to play them on console ever again.

Higher framerates aren't trivial, they directly contribute to responsiveness and lag reduction.

It's also not cheap when you buy an OLED and high end PC to emulate in the best way possible. We just don't want dedicated autism boxes on borrowed time and cords. It's a wasteful mess. Why do that when you can play everything, and play it better, on one machine?

I love that you listed many great upsides to emulation, and even put "cheaping out" in quotation marks as though to highlight how silly of an idea it is to get self-righteous because you paid more money for less features. You can make games run better than they do in their original hardware by doing things such as increasing the sprite limit to eliminate flicker or overclocking the CPU to eliminate slowdown. Is there a way to do this without it increasing the overall speed of the game? I didn't like that too much, and now I just see the slowdowns as more like slowmo so it doesn't bother me as much. Would still prefer it running at full speed the whole time though.

Mega Man X with the SA-1 hack is better than playing it on original hardware though, because it removes most of the slowdown but doesn't negatively impact anything else. Other than that I still kind of have a preference for emulation because it allows me to use save states, I like being able to save and quit any time I want rather than having to continue playing until I reach a checkpoint or quitting and then having to redo some of it again later.

The PS2 Silent Hill games look amazing in PCSX2. The character models are better than most 7th gen games. 480i just can't do the graphics justice, and hides much of the detail put into the game by the developers.

There are some 6th gen games where playing in high res seems to accentuate the lack of detail, but in Silent Hill 2-4 it's the opposite. It feels like it reveals more details that were previously obscured and upgrades the graphics to the level of a PS3 game.

depends on the game. Visually games like spyro or megaman legends scale up very well and the art style is perfectly maintained or even enhanced. In other games, like final fantasy 7 or 8, native resolution is best and messing with it destroys the visual style completely imo.

Gameplay wise its usually best on native hardware because the game was designed that way but there are serous exceptions like goldeneye being far superior on keyboard/mouse for example.

Technically the save deleting glitch doesn't happen on flashcarts so I'd say that's still the best way to PLAY the game. The mods are awesome obviously but the fact that they're all put together with gameshark spaghetti code means crashes are inevitable and, depending on the mod, sometimes a very regular occurrence.

the show was shit but that phrase is so fucking retarded, nerd was never a culture, in fact, the concept of nerd culture is some late 00s hipsterism soi bullshit to sell garbage and ironically was created by pop culture shit like Big Bang Theory, You are also parroting every stupid memetuber who made the exact same dumb remark

I agree. Unlike >>7301823 I think the faster speed makes the game much more enjoyable.
