Seems cool. Early 00s animu art style and first person sword mechanics make it pretty interesting. As another anon mentioned the body surfing mechanic is cool too. Haven’t finished the game but it has some solid appeal, but from what I have played of it that’s mostly what it has going for it. The combat itself isn’t very interesting unfortunately.

The entire plot of the original game revolved around how the villains were a neo nazi group trying to take control of the world and basically everything political was scrubbed. The original plot is pretty abstract and bizarre so it's not like some powerful message was lost but still.

Technically there is still no "true" way to play Maken X in English. The English Dreamcast release is censored and the dub is pretty awful. Maken Shao had a release in Europe, this version wasn't censored and uses the Japanese voices with subs. However this version of the game is third person, as opposed to first person like the original release, so it has a different feel to it.

I think it was a problem with every Atlus game on PS2. Maybe they just thought Europoors perceive time differently and wouldn't notice.
That audio issue is the only issue I recall having when forcing 60Hz, but I didn't play much of the game because of it. The cutscene files are the same between the PAL and NTSC-J versions so the audio slowdown is something in the code that would have to be disabled.
