What is the perfect controller, and why is it the SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System) Controller?

>small lightweight
>shape easily fits in hands big and small with no hotspots
>takes the gold standard NES controller layout and adds two more face buttons and revolutionary shoulder buttons
>said face and shoulder buttons still the standard almost 30 years later
>concave top face buttons improves comfort and tactile legibility

It improved on so much, and controllers have added improvements and features, but none have really nailed it as perfectly as this controller also while being a step forward in controller design.

To this day it's still relevant, and besides not being cordless, the d-pad not being as precise as more contemporary controllers like the N64 and analog buttons like the PS3 it really can't be improved.

ps2 has no metroid, so it's fatally flowed

Nintendo for 2D, Sony for 3D. Sega had the versting pads in both categories.

Did Jeremy Parish coin this reddit gobbledygook or what? Also, Gamecube controller is the pinnacle for 3D controllers, Saturn controller for 2D controllers.

>PS2

>copies PS1 controller
>only adds analog buttons

It's good, but it isn't SNES good. PS3 is objectively better than PS2.

You're right. I want to say I only wish it had more buttons, but I've tried numerous different controllers that were all "A SNES pad, but more buttons!" and they were all shit. ONLY the original still holds up.

The Genesis 6 button controller was better.

Using PS2 pads for emulation may give slight input lag due to the pressure sensitive buttons.

OG, non dualshock PS1 pads are best for emulating anything that doesn't require analog.

Give it a Nintendo D-pad and a select button, then you can call it perfect.

N64 Brawler wireless. 6 face buttons and two sets of buttons up top. Modern design with the n64s groundbreaking controller capabilities. And it's wireless. Doesn't get much better than that.
