When’s the last time you had a LAN party?

>> No.7290676

2006 or so
We had some Quake II and FFXI setups

>> No.7290686

Late 2006 or early 2007, Battlefield 2 and CS Source

>> No.7290706

UT04 is about as versting as ‘lan-style’ games get. That said, MW Mercenaries is bretty gud.

Not retro, but every league start with Path of Exile, me and my mates get together to do a pasudo LAN party, order pizza, throw on music, get a case of beer.
Its one of the few things I look forward to anymore even if I'm burned out on the game it self. Guaranteed time to chill with friends, its not that far off from when we did do LAN partys back in the early 00s together.

Last year. The games weren't retro, apart from a couple of guys playing AoE, and me bringing a NES to play Bomberman on the side.

CODMW2 about 3 years ago. About 8 people so we did a 4v4. I was ruthless with the noob tube.

I miss LAN parties.

It wouldn't be any worse than switching class in highschool and entering a small room which was previously packed, with all the windows closed.

Never but I always wanted to. As a kid, I didn't know anybody who I would be up for this sort of thing. I had a Gamecube and everyone I knew had a PS2 which they either used to play GTA or FIFA. I wasn't too into PC gaming back then and I never went to any local communities or tournaments. Just another thing that unfortunately passed me by.

2004... Kinda. We hooked up 4 of xboxes and played halo 2, so not technically a traditional LAN party.

I grew up in a tiny dirt poor town. I'm convinced that those 4 xboxes were ALL of the xboxes in our highschool at the time. How people managed to get a bunch of kids together who each had their own computer seems extravagant to me.

it was only worth it for stay overs during vacations or something like that when you would have 2-3 consecutive days of gaming, for just one afternoon, yeah, too much work setting that shit up.

I used to have "lan parties" but we just went to a cyber and rented every computer for the entire afternoon. I remember one time i was invited to one of those stay overs to play for a whole week but my parents didn't let me take the computer away from home so i passed.

2006, had a group of friends where we would LAN party every couple weeks. But then girls and drugs were introduced and it all went to shit

>> No.7293174

2016, hooked up our PC's and duked it out on Halo CE and CS Source, prolly the last great gaming night I ever had. I yearn for those days again, but nothing will ever bring them back...

>> No.7293176

About 4 months ago. We were playing Supreme Commander Forged Alliance, so not retro, but we also had a crt and an n64 set up at the same time that we'd switch to in between games.

Mid 00's
Had Halo set up on a string of Xbox consoles with Unreal Tournament 2004 on PCs. Halo was big enough at the time that an Xbox actually had a place at a LAN party. Well, until gearbox released that port.

Early/Mid 2000s I think.
Kind of stopped being interesting when everyone was addicted to Tibia and wanted to play Tibia in one spot even when we weren't doing the same shit.
Still hang togethers with 1-2 machines and alcohol though.
