Time to talk about the classic. Favorite game for it? Any good memories you had with it? For me, my favorite game is either Combat, River Raid, or Jungle Hunt, and my favorite memory with it is when me and a couple friends spent some hours playing Space War. Really underrated game that I wished more people played.

I need to play Berzerk. I'm gonna pick it up soon along with Adventure since I've never played that one either.

Nice six-switch. I only have a Darth Vader model, but I still love my 2600. Is yours a heavy sixer or a light sixer? Also how is the Hyperkin Retron 77 controller? I might pick one up as a backup.

Not sure i can tell you about the weight. This is my first 2600. But the hyperkin pad is nice. It feels different, like you're using a huge dpad underneath the stick. But its responsive and is aging the life of ny cx40's that are in great shape.

What do people see in Atari 2600 games? I've always found them far too primitive to be enjoyable, as compared to early arcade games or 8-bit consoles, which can still hold up great today.

>Berzerk
excellent choice

Dragonstomper is a neat oddity. The game was so big it needed to be stored on a cassette tape, and read with a third party peripheral.

A lot of them are primitive. But what I've found is that if you set yourself a point goal, you get addicted trying to get to or beat that goal. Also, you have to play the more complex games. Solaris is honestly the best atari game I've played.

So I'm mildly interested in classic Atari. How's the 7800 for playing 2600 games?

You should emulate with Stella before you get into atari to make sure you like the games.

I love the VCS it because of it's weird hardware. The things people can do with the TIA is mind-blowing.

Not bad for a 44 year old system.

We had one when I was three/four years old. The only game I recall playing is Keystone Kapers.

It's the pick up and play simplicity that you find in early arcade games from the late 70s/early 80s. If you need games that have an ending or don't like setting a score goal for yourself and trying to get a little bit better each time, you aren't gonna like the games. It was all about creating a simple gameplay loop which was easy to understand but difficult to master.

>>7289605
It's pretty solid, there's a handful of games it can't play but overall it's quality. The 7800 has some real good games too.
