How do you deal with save data in this day and age? Are you just buying more and more memory cards or is there a better way?

Emulatorfags not welcome.

Yeah, I just buy more memory cards. They're cheap. I only get the offical Sony-licensed ones though. I heard third party ones fuck themselves after a while.

PS3 and a memory card adapter.
I've got a couple of PS2 and PS1 cards, and I backup saves on my PS3. You can make as many virtual cards as you like, so I have a bunch for different genres or series to keep them organised. It also made it easy to send saves over to Vita if I was playing something and wanted to continue while travelling.

use homebrew to back up saves, PS/PS2 can back up using those USB adapters for PS3, right?

>> No.7288017

>>7287991
PS2 I think you can just get a usb drive and put freemcboot on it and it can read/write to the memory card like that.

I've never had a third party memory card go bad. Last year I checked some memory cards that still had saves from 2007 or so and some from 1999-2000.

Still, I just use two different brands in each slot, the second a mirror of the first.

I should try that, I've got an official 128mb for PS2 (didn't even know they came in that size until I was it) but PSX I am restricted to nothing above 1M.

I really wish the PS3 fat just had an old fashion Playstation memory card port underneath that hatch, I would have got a lot of use out of that. At least the PS3 Memory card adapter was cheap when it came out though, sucks it's so expensive now.

There is no official 128MB card.

It’s true, I lost my final fantasy 7 save files when I was 3 discs in while in middle school. I was so mad because I wanted to start over but knew they could erase again at any time and I was too young to just get a job to buy one.

I made a dex drive like device that backs up to a server. One of these days I'm gonna stick it inside the console so it automatically backs up when it's turned off. This sort of shit has been child play for many years. I have a buttload of memory cards, many unopened. I'll never need to buy more.

Imagine being a double faggot and a tripper nigger. You need to go back redditot.

>> No.7288898

Dexdrive is the patrician choice: you can safely backup all your saves and edit your memory card(s).
It still works with Windows 10, too.

Shit like Action Replay or whatever can compress saves you don't need, keep those on a USB stick

>> No.7288932

back up both ps1 and ps2 saves by copying it off the memcard onto a usb drive through uLaunch

>> No.7289472

>>7288548
I think it’s due to compression. Those third party cards claim better capacities than the official ones but they don’t have more space, per se, just compress data and it can cause corruption as a result.

Get a set of like 4 or 5 memory cards, and once you beat a game just delete saves to conserve space or back them up to a flash drive and then a PC using a PS2 with FMCB.
