Much more possible than Super Famicom.
>I rarely deal in absolutes and outrights, but I can say with almost complete certainty that I will never work on the SNES Popful Mail title. It uses a similar engine to Ys 5, where every area is compressed with its event code and text - and its event code is mostly assembly with assembly pointers to the text and between the text at that. It's really, really, really nasty stuff.

>PC-engine CD
>Mega CD
>Super Famicom

I was thinking, which is the best version? PC-98 original has dreadful scrolling but fantastic gorgeous colors and art. It also has bump combat? Visually it's the best though. The PCE-CD vesrion has CD audio, voice acting, and much better scrolling. but the sprites are much smaller.

MCD and SFC are rebuilt and look like downgrades. CD version the sprites are too big and she has a lot of momentum like these are ice stages. SFC she looks like a Kobold or furry creature.

Keep in mind I've never played any of them and I'm just going by looks.

Nihon Falcom thread? For some reason they were not much Falcom games on the SFC or PS and instead were on NEC or Sega consoles. And half the games never left Japan. Might be why a lot of westeners missed out of Falcom games. However I love their mix of anime, fantasy, action, and rpgs. In fact they were way ahead of the curve of moving away from menu based combat to real time combat.

I wish they would return to their roots. They could really cash in on those "souls" type games and maybe add some anime girls.

However I love their mix of anime, fantasy, action, and rpgs. In fact they were way ahead of the curve of moving away from menu based combat to real time combat. The feel of their games seems to be really inspired by D&D and as they went on they added more anime to the mix.

I wish they would return to their roots. They could really cash in on those "souls" type games and maybe add some anime girls.

If you haven't, check out this book which is loaded with cool art and interviews for early Falcom.

Earliest Falcom was like 95% D&D and 5% anime. Popful is like a clean 50/50 mix. Modern Falcom is like 80% anime.

PCE would be cool if it were faster like the PC-98 version. Mega CD is not bad, but it quite doesn't feel like a Falcom game. SFC is actually a drastic reimagining and I like the basic gameplay better than the Mega CD version.

Shame none of the other versions got translated.

Are there any hacks for Popful Mail on Sega CD which puts the Japanese audio back in?

>> No.7290007

>>7289917
Unfortunately no, plus I don't think it will work with working design translation which took a lot of liberties for this game.

But at least there is a patch to put back the original difficulty from the japanese version, less bullshit like item costing more golds, ennemy making more damages and having more hp, etc...

Check "unworking design patch" you will find it.
