How come so few burgers realize how easy it is to live the rgb meme just by buying a rgb to component transcoder and slapping it onto their old consumer sets?

I swear if people actually knew they existed pvm's would be far less of a thing and less people would be memed into electrocuting themselves by attempting to open their crt classis so they can wire rgb patches into their set's on screen display

end yourself

also to answer your question (not really a question so much as a "brag" about your setup), not every single american is interested in retro games so they dont need junk like that.

Well, since this thread is close enough, let me hijack it for a better thread.

I just found out about the OSSC, which seems nice in principal, but $110 burgerbucks + waiting 20 years for it to ship from Old Canada makes me hesitant. What does /vr/ think about this?

im retarded. how exactly does OP's magic device work? Get an RGB cable for console > plug into occult device > plug component cables from device into set? I was always under the impression that the problem was you are still sending the signal through not enough individual connection and thats why an RGB cable was supreme. What does this magic device do that it can take an RGB signal and still compress it down to travel over component and still provide the same quality as if it was just a straight RGB connection from console to set? once again let me reiterate that i am retarded

>> No.7286794

You understand that the device is transcoding to component, not composite, right

GBS is better than OSSC for PS2. Better compatibility with displays and better deinterlacing. Cheaper too.

You dont need SHART, component is just a different way of transmitting the same information which is why it can be transcoded by something like this without impacting quality

Maybe because burgers are smart enough to know not every HDTV can process 240p at all, let alone not mangle it into 480i

If a TV had anything other than RF, it was composite or composite with s-video. I don't even recall seeing component until the mid 90's and it was only on higher end sets.

Search "cga to vga" or "cga hdmi" on AliExpress for them depending on which one you want.
For VGA there's dual and single output options. There's also way too many different sellers each with varying revisions and quality and as always the pictures on AliExpress mean nothing.
These can then be further modded with something called GBS-control which is a custom firmware for the thing that nets you better options available for it.

It's not a line doubler though
It's 240p rgbs to 240p y-pb-pr (component)

this and you don't need to electrocute yourself opening the set. you can add RGB to plenty of sets for about 3$ in components if you count the connectors/cables. also circuit bending and trying out circuits on tv sets where there's no info on the internet is fun. better than watching RGB master class videos on youtube and complaining about how expensive everything is.

Use to be able to find those rgb to component converters easily and cheaply, another thing you can do is convert component to s-video by joining 2 of the wires together.

No, it is visually identical, just a different way of doing the same thing

It's just that Component YPbPr is much more efficient at doing it than RGB and it's various sync variations and tendency to require matched voltage output.

You could think of it like WAV vs FLAC.
