What does /vr/ think of the GCW Zero?

>> No.728124

I'd probably like it if the motherfucker finally got the shit flashed and sent out. I mean Christ, delivery was planned for April.

It looks good from what i've seen.

We had a Dev on /vr/ not too long ago, I wonder if he's still hanging around.

I think you need to take it to /vg/ you fucking asshole or keep it to one thread

there is only one thread. I check daily for new GCW-Zero threads and there's only one once a week that usually goes for less than 100 posts. There isn't enough interest or posters with the handheld for a dedicated /vg/ thread yet. And because it's a retro gaming handheld it gets laughed out of /v/.

>>728442
No I mean keep it to one clone console bootleg thread they are getting numerous

>> No.728471

They just need to ship it, I've been holding off on a whole lot of emulation I want to do.

The other one that gets brought up is the JXD S7300. Android enthusiasts are in a completely different camp and when you bring up the Zero it's like mentioning the 3DS in a Vita thread. Also, there aren't any android handheld threads up either.

The laout should be A on bottom, B on left, Y on top, X on right. A should always be confirm, and bottom is confirm in god-tier layouts. Left should be cancel, and B is traditionally cancel. Right can be used on a semi-regular basis in certain games, so it should be X. Y should be on top because it's used less.
>the only true perfect layout
>tfw it hasn't been used yet

The main reason it gets laughed out is because plenty of previous emulation handhelds were surpassed by the PSP, which ended up being cheap enough that made these devices pretty useless unless you wanted some different controls or an easier time installing things on them.

I suppose this one emulates gba/snes without issues, right? Because plenty of non expensive android tablets also do, in fact I think the archos gamepad does well.

Enjoy your 300MHz and two-hour battery life. GP2X master race.

>> No.728757

>>728742
Yep, but for the same specs it can be optimized a lot more heavily since it runs on set hardware and uses a more barebones linux system. Personally the PSP just never felt good in my hands, lagged on a few games I loved and didn't have the sort of enthusiast homebrew community I use to love from old GP2X.

It was half the price (and piss easy to hack) by the time the Wiz came out, and it sure didn't have as many problems with SNES emulation. GBA was shitty on PSP though, I admit. But so it was in most of these platforms.

Which by the way I bought, and also bought the Caanoo. While I enjoyed the amoled screen of the former and the screen size and analog stick of the latter, both were pretty terrible in terms of software.

Regarding dingoos, most of them didn't feel good on the hands. I'm happy to see that at least the design of this console seems just right (except for the ministick, which already was an awful thing on PSP)

The Pandora is undisputably the best, but is ridiculously expensive.

For reasonably priced handhelds the JXD-7300B is your best bet until the GCW Zero is released. But if you wait a month the Zero should be available and looks like it has tighter quality control, more portability and a stronger homebrew community.

>> No.728787

What's the price on this?

Cave story looks laggy, by the way.

In all fairness, having access to the PS1 library easily makes up and surpasses what other devices with better SNES emulation provide. Clock speed doesn't mean that much when it comes to most older games, and you're clearly uninformed about the battery life as I've gotten upwards of 8 hours when emulating old games.

If you want to use a different device because somethings suits you better on it, that's fine, but at least be informed about the device you so adamantly dislike.

This.
And an N64 emulator.
Else it's just a PSP that can't play PSP games.
