Just got me one of these bad boys
What are some overlooked GBA games?

>> No.7272596

For the first few years of the GBA I just played it on emulator because they got one up and running almost right away.

Even when I got a GBA I ended up never getting any GBA games, just using it to play my Game Boy games, and eventually I sold it for a DS Lite (along with my fat DS).

Drill dozer but you need the real cart for the true experience. Also advance wars 2, wario land 4, river city ransom and gunstar super heroe ports are 10/10

Oh shit, I completely forgot there was a River City Ransom port

What kinda GBA do you have, OP? I'm guessing an SP with 900mah battery? I'm wondering if I should buy a pre-modded one or just do it myself.

>> No.7272836

Imagine buying this and not knowing what you want to play on it.
And don't try to tell me otherwise bc you'dbe busy playing instead of hanging around here if you knew what to play, faggot

I've got a standard AG001 SP, but I'm waiting on an IPS screen, rechargable battery and shell for my old AGB.
Modding isn't hard, but knowing how to solder, while not necessary, will make it slightly better overall.
The one thing you have to watch out for is that, with screen mods, you need to cut bits of plastic out of the shell so the screen remains centered, so it's much easier and more accurate just to buy a pre-cut shell

>Megaman Zero
1 is meh, but the rest are fuckin great
>Fire Emblem
All are great. The fan translation for The Binding Blade is cringy in parts, but the game is great overall. The other two are a couple of the best FE games ever made
>Drill Dozer
Is good
>Kururin
A fun little Super Monkey Ball style time attack puzzle game
>Super Monkey Ball Advance
Believe it
>Tactics Ogre Knight of Lodis
Like FFTA, but good

OP asked for overlooked games.

Blender Bros. is a solid crash-like platformer
Bubble Bobble - Old & New has interesting stuff if you already like Bubble Bobble
Frogger's Adventures 2 is a really excellent frogger game. Like damn. Too bad they were still using that ugly design, but it's still a fun game
Ghost Rider's a surprisingly decent beat em up
Konami Krazy Racers - Don't sleep on this if you like Mario Kart Super Circuit
In my experience, a surprising amount of people have no idea Mario vs. Donkey Kong exists. It's amazing, play it.
Ninja Five-O is sick
Pac-Man Collection is the only way to play Pac-Man Arrangement on the go, and you should.
The Shaman King games by Konami are quite good, they seem to run on the same engine as the Castlevania games and have similar, but different gameplay
Wade Hixton's Counter Punch is a very good Punch Out knockoff

Since you're on a flashcart, I can recommend you some translations/romhacks:
The Boktai series has patches that let you control the solar sensor through a button macro
Boktai 3 also has an english patch
Rhythm Tengoku/Rhythm Heaven 1 has a translation patch
Castlevania Circle of the Moon - Card Mode makes the game actually fun
F-Zero Climax has an english patch
F-Zero GP Legend - e+ Complete adds in all of the e-Reader content
Mario Kart Super Circuit - I recommend three hacks, Better Colors, Localized Voices, and "Original Sunset Wilds title card & sprites for MK - SC"
Rockman.exe (Mega Man Battle Network) 4.5 Real Operation has a translation, as well as the Real Battle Network Gameplay patch which makes it play like the rest of the series
The rest of the Battle Network games have patches that include the (e-Reader? Link Cable stuff? idk) content that was restored on the Wii U VC rereleases
Metroid Zero Mission - Chozo Hint Statue Removal does exactly what it says
Metroid Fusion has a hack that forces the japanese version to be in other languages, which means you can play Hard Mode and obtain the new ending -

>> No.7278221

>>7278214
- images in english/whatever else
Super Mario Advance 4 (SMB3) - Similar to Battle Network, the Wii U VC rom includes all e-Reader levels. There are also hacks that restore the SNES color palette (usually only enabled on the Game Boy Player) and remove the voice clips
Finally, Densetsu no Staafy/The Legendary Starfy has an in-progress english patch, but it's enough to play the game.
There's also a million hacks that work to improve on Castlevania Aria of Sorrow and Harmony of Dissonance, but I can't be fucked to try them all out and see which one is best so go ahead and knock yourself out if you want. And a million and one pokemon hacks.

people forget it has a rhythm heaven

riviera the promised land is probably not popular

summon knight 1/2 (3 not translated)

But there's tons of games you might not play for not knowing about them.

scurge:hive is a metroid tier thingy in isometric graphics but I've not even played it

There's actually like five fps on it, but I have no Interest beyond doom. I'm sure there's jewtube videos to let you know about the top fps. I watched one in german recently. The graphics were nice.

It has a wing commander but it's hard. I think even flight of the falcon is easier, though wing commander would be more social, more rpg tier.

it has klonoa games

>> No.7279860

also it has a final fantasy tactics game that most probably don't think to download

I don't know if it's shit. I never even played the psx one and they are not the same game.

also lufia might be forgot, oriental blue is another rpg, shining rpgs, it has the sega phantasy star games on it too, lots of rpgs really when you think about it. A baldur's gate is on it.

Can it play gbc/gb games? The list would be out of control at that point.

>overlooked games
Guess nobody actually read the OP.

Bear in mind some of these may be common / shovelware, but they're not really titles anyone talks about.

>Altered Beast: Guardian of the Realms
>Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance
^Pales in comparison to console versions, but it's still pretty solid.
>Everything Bomberman - Tournament, Max, Classic NES Series Bomberman, etc.
>Boulder Dash EX
>Bubble Bobble: Old & New
>Contra Advance
^Loose port of Alien Wars with a few stages borrowed from Hard Corps.
>Crash Bandicoot: The Huge Adventure
^The only Crash on GBA I'd recommend.
>Drome Racers, Need for Speed Underground 2, Top Gear Rally
^All the proper racing games you'll need, complete with 3D graphics.
>Fortress
^A weird fusion of Tetris and tower defense that's just fun.
>Frogger's Adventures 1 & 2, Frogger's Journey
^Journey is an action-adventure take on Frogger, similar to Zelda.
>Gradius Generation
>Iridion 3D, Iridion II
>Jurassic Park III: Park Builder
^Very cool sim / management game for GBA. Build a theme park, harvest dinosaur DNA, watch dinosaurs eventually escape and eat people, rinse and repeat.
>Konami Krazy Racers
^Much better than Mario Kart.
>Lode Runner
^Japan import, but that's why you have a Flash cart, right? Simple but solid action-puzzle game with an editor mode.
>Mech Platoon
^To my knowledge, the only RTS for this system. Fun, but the AI is dumb as shit.
>Ms. Pac-Man: Maze Madness
>Ninja Five-O
^Combines Shinobi and Bionic Commando.
>Pinball of the Dead
>Spyro 2: Season of Flame
^Isometric platformer that works so very well on the GBA. I don't really recommend the other Spyro games though. Season of Ice has some horrible stage design.
>Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts
^Port of the SNES game with additional stages. Approaches Dark Souls levels of difficulty.
>Turbo Turtle Adventure
