I'm finally about to start Ninja Gaiden Black, /vr/. I'm very skilled at games in general but I know this game will rip my asshole in half regardless. What tips do you have? What's the dominant strategy? At least there are no bullshit birds this time around.

Also, Itagaki is based as fuck.

Flying Swallow = You win

I remember reading there was a move removed from NGB because it was OP. Is that it?

It's shit, play PS2 Shinobi instead, the superior 3D ninja action game.

Just block

>> No.7270060

An advanced technique is shuriken cancel where you press the B button after an attack to reduce the recovery times. You can try practicing it because it really helps evading attacks and stopping enemies from attacking you.

You can also try to do an instant UT. You'll learn that an UT is an attack you can do by absorbing essence by holding Y. Normally this leaves you vulnerable, but if you do it right after landing a jump you have less startup frames.

These are the two core advanced techniques. I think for the first few enemies (basic ninjas) it's just best to get familiar with the controls and block&punish. I'm not sure what the name for it is, but if you jump on an enemies head, he'll be temporarily stunned and vulnerable to an attack which will help you fight the first few more sturdy enemies. The grab attack is also very good (X+A).

Nah its in NGB. Its a spammable move and works extremely well on I would say at least 90% of enemies. They add enemies in hard mode that specifically punish you for spamming it.

Remember: you're not really done until you finish it in Master Ninja difficulty.

No true shuriken into izuna drop is the way cheese any humanoid.

Personally on my first playthrough I barely used Izuna drop and I still got through it pretty smoothly with flying swallow spam. UTs also make certain encounters a joke like the final boss.

>Normal and hard are pretty easy if you have experience with action games. Very hard and master ninja are where it gets tough.
>Hold forward, press block and then A to roll jump. This is the most efficient way to get around.
>Many moves execute faster when done immediately after landing from a jump. You can charge ultimate techniques faster this way.
>Don't rely too much on flying swallow (jump forward + Y with the sword), you can get punished on hit on the higher difficulties because the recovery takes forever. Red hot iron brand (Jump forward + Y with the flail) is extremely good on the other hand.
>Izuna drop instakills pretty much all enemies you can launch aside from the zombies. It's not the most efficient way to kill enemies but it works extremely well.

The move you're referring to is the intercept from the hurricane packs. Here's an elaborate video about it: https://youtu.be/i1flQwaxlxs
TL;DW
>a sort of parry you execute by blocking right before getting hit
>really easy to execute
>prevents guard break and guard crush chip damage
>grants invincibility for a few frames on a successful intercept
>allows you to charge ultimate techniques quicker

What is the best version of Ninja Gaiden Black? Do I have to have an OG Xbox to play the best version of this game?

>> No.7270891

>>7270872
Ninja gaiden is the enhanced version of NG04 and is generally seen as the best version. You can play it on the OG xbox and it is backwards compatible on the xbone, SeX & SeS and 360 but I think you need something extra to use the backwards compatibility on the 360.
You can also emulate it with Xemu but the performance is poor unless you have a high end intel CPU or maybe a 5xxx Ryzen.

PS2 Shinobi was a smelly turd.

Black is usually cited to be the best version, and you can't emulate it reasonably yet. However you can play it on a 360, and I Microsoft also added backwards compatibility with higher resolutions on the Xbone and Series X. I haven't played the game on these platforms but I'm sure they are playable enough.

Alternatively, you can play Sigma on PS3, which is still good but has changes not everyone agrees improve the game. It also suffers from annoying load times.

Theyre cheap and easy to mod and have tons of good games. Also the official HDMI cable looks great and a lot of games are 720/480p

You have more defensive options than offensive, so your best stategy is to look for openings to exploit while blocking and running around, rather than just rushing at the enemy and mashing attack buttons.

I remember beating this game as a 10 year old so Im sure it shouldnt be that much of a struggle.
