This game is fucking kino. If you haven't played it, correct that right now.

Write it on your forehead. Also, make sure to play the patched version. The US version, Cybernator, is botched.
>>7262467
It feels amazing to use

Wait how's the US version botched? I know the portraits are removed

I just tried the first game on the Mega Drive. The controls are dogshit. please tell me it gets better in the later games.

The portraits are missing, the story is cut, it's censored and if i'm not mistaken it has nerfed difficulty.
>>7262513
The controls are perfectly fine for me on the SNES, don't know about the Mega Drive version. It's supposed to be a little clunky because you're controlling a mech

Leynos/Target Earth on the Genesis is a very different kind of game, even if both are from the same series. Valken spawned a ton of clones because it actually managed to get mech controls down to a T. Leynos has a remake on the PS4/PC, and they copied the Valken controls for it! So in a sense, Valken ended up defining its genre, even if it was actually the second game. And even more, Leynos II (Sega Saturn exclusive) ended up using the Valken controls too.

The odd duck out is Valken II (PSX exclusive) which is just a strategy game. The main character of Valken, Jake Brain, appears near the end of the campaign, a few years older.

There was an old PC game called Iron Blood and the first character controls exactly like Valken/Cybernator and gets weapons that are heavily reminiscent of it. It's either a ripoff or related, I have no idea, but I remember liking it a lot.

Yeah, forgot to say that in the op actually, but the OST is great. The same guy did Brain Lord if i'm not mistaken.
