>change /vr/ to /vc/ (classic games) so it doesn't get ruined every 5 years
there I fixed your board

>> No.7260662

Then you'd have even more people bitching about how the games discussed here aren't actually classic.
Sure they may be old, but classic implies a certain level of good.
Superman 64. Retro? most definitely. Classic? No.

you can still discuss bad authors/pieces in classical music forums, or point how homo the greeks were in classical greece

>> No.7260719

This could work really. In all my bait threads lately, it seems like the need to full segregate <=4th gen from all other generations is essential because of how dramatically different those games were from games of future generations.

No. Go troll somewhere else.

>> No.7260768

Will only work if the board has a locked in timeframe. /vc/ should be for talking about games made in the 20th century only.

"This board is for the discussion of classic, or "retro" games, including consoles, computer games, arcade games (including pinball) and any other forms of video games. Retro gaming means platforms launched in 2001 and earlier, and official game titles for those platforms released no later than December 2007 (homebrew console games made after this date will be permitted). The Microsoft Xbox, Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo Game Boy Advance, and Sony PlayStation 2 will now be considered "retro"."

I've got a better solution
>Organise a fund-riser to buy 4chan from hiroshi and close it for good
You can try to prove me that this isn't the best solution, but we all know this is the only way to salvage this place after gookmoot did everything in his might to fuck it all up, across all boards

... or just use a clear-cut date, like it should always been.
But that would be a sensible thing. And sensible things are haram with current mods

Only 599 more years, /vr/ bros

Instead of a clear cut date just say it has to be hardware from 3 console generations ago or older. Time moves forward, what is new will eventually be old, and what is old will become irrelevant.

It's easy to blame incompetence as the reason we did not get /v2k/, but in reality a tranny mod was mad about the fact that his toys were not considered part of the cool club. This is malevolence, not incompetence.

Doesn't matter how old it is, doesn't matter how good it is
A game was either produced in the retro era, or it wasn't
Just change the sticky to explain how the retro era of games is considered to be the hardware released in 20th century and the software written for said hardware
Anything later than that is to be considered the modern era of games
I mean, the modern era of history will not become medieval just because enough centuries have passed

It goes the other way too. It's possible for a game to be an "instant classic". For instance, I can already tell you that Undertale, Cuphead, and Nier: Automata will go down as classics and people will still be talking about them in 20 years.

>>7261018
It should be a rolling date. Anything >15 years old is retro. Then you have new games entering the board every year to keep things fresh. Basing it on hardware is retarded, especially when PC is exempt. The fact that Crysis, Modern Warfare, Gears of War, and Assassin's Creed are retro while Super Mario Galaxy, Phantom Hourglass, and Pokemon Diamond aren't because they're released on the wrong hardware is asinine.

Notice the important difference between "classic" and "classical". The only way "classical" is used outside of scientific jargon is to imply "old music from roughly the 17th to the 19th century".

Or, you could understand that what's retro to a 30 year-old boomer (or an actual boomer) is different to someone whose younger. "Retro" used to refer to the 1950's, for fuck's sake.

Dumbest thing I have read in 2021 thus far
