Been playing Tetris grand master off and on for over a year. Managed to get my first GM a few months ago at 12:07.
Now have been playing the second one and barely being able to consistently survive levels 900~999, crashing at around S5. I think it requires more pre rotations than I'm currently capable of so I can slide or roll pieces into place before they lock into a misdrop.

I was in the mood so I put in my copy of Cleopatra Fortune for some fun.

It feels like the way to 'get good' at this game eludes me. After a while I started going straight to 'hard' at least so that I don't have to do 4-6 minutes of easy block crushan'

It seems like 'score' is somewhat pointless since the random nature of what you get greatly decides what type of combos you pull off (and if you get Perfect's or not). The awkward shape of some of the block combos makes it very easy for things to spin out of control, and fast. And if the game kicks into high speed, you may not even have time to think of a place to put the blocks!

Still, this is probably the farthest I've made it in the game.

The only one of those I've played is Money Idol Exhanger, which is quite fun. I've put a goodly amount of time into arcade mode on the ACA release on the switch but have only made it Macker, the second-to-last opponent. I really don't know what I am doing; sometimes I win in 40 seconds other times I slog through a 2 minute match before getting my ass kicked...

I keep on being reeled back in though.

Nice, I broke 2 million in Cleopatra Fortune, and separately got to level 69 (noice). Got pretty lucky with multiple perfect's in a row. Scoring like I said is inconsistent at best but it's nonetheless nice to get nearly 30 levels into the game.

Today's play saw a new best to level 88. So close! Too bad score is almost entirely random but I guess these games aren't really meant for score.

On a good roll in Cleopatra Fortune, i can consistently get to levels of 70s/80s. Not quite as high as last time but I managed to get lucky (literally) with combos of blocks and broke 3 million, which was a nice consolation prize!

Tried out some more Puzzle Dama and that game is plenty fun too. I've only casually messed with it though.

Practice is one thing, but those steps are a good way to combo. I'm alright at it but not amazing but I tend to build on the right hand side (there is an extra column you can use to stack up without dying compared to building a stack on the left) and try and build steps on top of other steps, thinking about creating a chain vertically too. Also building up means that if you aren't sure of what you are doing you can stick loads of beans up and hopefully when you set the lower chains off something else might go off. Hopefully that helps, sorry it's hard to explain without showing you what I do

bump

still making it into the 80-range, level-wise in cleopatra fortune but I am having a hard time surviving at that point since the game spams mummies at you non-stop with barely any gems/sarcophagi. You're apparently supposed to line them up to destroy them but by that point my terrain is so lopsided and the mummies so fast I don't have time to rearrange or plan ahead.

Been playing this so much, maybe too much. After an hour and a half I thought of quitting but said "one more round..."
And look what happened! First time reaching the 90s and so close to the end of the game, argh... a single accidental movement just cascaded me into a game over. Still; it has been a few days since meaningful progress so I was worried that I had plateaued.

Keep at it and you'll surely get it. Personally, I didn't think I'd be able to achieve it.

I'm even more skeptical about being able to achieve a tgm2 GM myself, though. The qualifying conditions are pretty strict, and then there's the M-roll. I'm not even sure how I'm going to handle that.

the music is alright in this.

It seems that detachable blocks with different effects on their parts seem to make things a bit bothersome mechanic wise in those kinds of games. May rely a bit too much on randomness to get the right combination block.

I was playing Money Idol Exchanger (a LOT lately) and I dunno how I'll ever get the 1cc. I have made it to Macker (2nd to last opponent) but out of curiosity I credit fed (took me like 6 tries to beat him lol) and saw how fast the CPU for Debtmiser moves. It's insane. I don't know how you're supposed to react fast enough to over come her routine. It actually feels broken, lol.

Has anyone 1cc'd Money Idol Exchanger?
