While I sometimes wonder what the fuck Nintendo is doing with some of their marketing decisions and handling of the Wii U, I think that out of any console maker today they best understand that consoles have always been and always should be about games. I also think the 3DS is a pretty damned good handheld.

but like, that's just my opinion, man

How long has it been since they released a new IP? I wouldn't it be surprised if Treasure has been reduced to a three dudes in a basement chugging out Bleach cash-ins.

What? They're in the top 2 console companies in (at least) the west, not sure about the rest of the world but I'm guessing Sony's pretty prominent there too.

Nintendo isn't playing to the competition anymore. It's a blessing and a curse.

On one hand, they're putting out innovative technology and games, most of them good. On the other, some of it isn't practical. My 3ds hurts my eyes about 20 minutes into the game, and I have to position it exactly right to have the full effect.

Nintendo has been returning to their roots and it's paying off.

Square Enix really, REALLY isn't that bad these days, as far as the rest of these companies go. They're a rock solid publisher and their first party offerings aren't that bad either. FFXIII, for one, was shat on by every imaginable angle but really wasn't even a quarter as bad as i was expecting. Probably a bad FF, but not a bad game by any stretch.

Square-Enix is merely wearing the skinned hide of the company it used to be. They're all about dem jewgolds now. All the company's visionaries have either quit or been promoted to figurehead positions - positions that allow little input into the actual games.

You realize you're creating more "hate-bonering" by whining. If you'd just sit down, be quiet, and let the thread run its course, it'd be over by now. Mostly agreed. People laugh at the Shining games now, but the PSP Shining games actually have great battle systems.

Konami hasn't really changed, to be honest. They've always been hit or miss. MGS is better now than it was, though.

So sad...

Namco's gotten better, at least. Falcom has as well.

Konami used to make new IPs like Lagrange Point and Esper Dream. Now every title has to be fucking Metal Gear or Spanish Castlevania.
