Legend games were awesome. I got stuck in that particular one at some point, but Death's Gate was great from beginning to end.

Having read the books when I was a teenager playing Death Gate was one of the best experiences I have had with adventure games. They did such a great job with the material, maybe something was cut from the end but nothing essential I guess.

How is this game? I've had it on my "play list" for a while, but that was just because the graphics are interesting and I've heard a few good things about it

>Josh Kirby art
Hnnnng. Wish that piece and the DW1 cover was available as prints from his estate.
Not sure how I would rank the Discworld games come to think of it. I have a ton of nostalgia for D2 even though Noir is probably the most polished. D1 felt like it was more mired in references than the other two as well rather than being it's own thing.
Simon the Sorcerer also deserves a mention, you can really feel the "this is our own Discworld take because we couldn't get the license" in the first 2 games. (if a bit meaner, and Simon gets increasingly cuntish to the point that he's downright an asshole in most dialogue in 3D only saved by almost everyone else being an asshole too. Simon 2 was like that sometimes but not for all of it.)

Probably the best Legend Entertainment game and proof that Josh Mandel's a good writer while mimicking a book style.
It also has better stories than most of Spider Robinson's originals (of which only a few are really great and most of the post-Callahans ones are pretty bad)
Particularly great in the Transylvania, Jungle and Dystopian future bits and how everything has a bunch of look-descriptions.
UFO sucks balls though (in no small part due to the re-used screen graphics) and the air duct maze was also pretty bad.

It's alright. Interesting-ish vignettes to explore and it's way more surreal than any kind of horror.
I'll say I think it's overhyped but it's definitely not a bad game.

I miss Westwood Studios. There was a comforting ethereal magic in this point and click adventure. The UI was playfully fun to click and experiment with.

They made the lord of the labyrinth less of an asshole in the game. Haplo, too.

Kyrandia 2 was such a great game in almost every respect.
Kyrandia 1 also has great bits to it like Malcolm's villainy and the look and feel of the first sections. Actually made me enjoy an adventure game maze which is a first.
K3 is pretty bad though. Some decent jokes marred by the terrible laugh track but that's about it imo.

Flight of the amazon queen was pretty good.

Most of Sierra catalog.

Simon the sorcerer. Second one especially where Simon is a dick.

Normality was an interesting title.

Beavis and Butthead in virtual stupidity.

Big red adventure and Kgb for glorious mother Russia.

I've spent many years looking for a game with similar atmosphere to Sanitarium, and could never find one. It may not be the most masterfully crafted adventure game, but it's certainly one of the most memorable.

Have you tried The Cat Lady? It has a creepy, melancholy atmosphere and lots of puzzle solving with strange and interesting characters. It's a little more linear than Sanitarium, though.

how about Wadjet Eye and related stuff?

I really enjoyed Lamplight City and its semi-nonlinearity, focus on a "detective"-like approach + I didn't mind the absence of an inventory.

For me, it's Gabriel Knight: SotF, IHNM&IMS, and Beneath a Steel Sky.

Easy games but capture the SCUMM-era spirit. I played most and liked them.

As a P&C fan I find Wadjet to be very mediocre particularly when set next to concurrent releases from indies like Heroine's Quest and medium-sized studios like Daedalic. Their own developed stuff is often bad and the same is true for a good half of their published games.
As for Lamplight the closest thing i've heard to praise for Grundislav's games they've published is Shardlight being "just ok" and "short and mediocre" for reference with all the others being much worse.
Primordia is just about the only game they've published I consider a good P&C and I paid out the ass for physical versions of mediocre shit like Resonance.
They're now trying to go full TWD walking sim with Unavowed, a game which might be more your style based on Lamplight, but I have my doubts it'll be profitable beyond the first game since like TWD it sold mostly on hype and we all know from the bankruptcy filing that almost no walking sims beyond the first episodes were actually profitable for Telltale.

Yeah, I will admit I fell out of favor with the series at 3. I still loved 1 and 2 for the pixel art, but the over-relyance on prerenders does hurt 3 visually. That laugh track does put you into the mind of Malcom better, but still annoying, agreed. The glowing berries are interesting enough to go through that cave.
