Hey /vr/

I'm playing Star Control 2 again. First time in 5 years.

This game expects you to take notes, infer important information; in short, it rewarded you for curiousity.

On one hand, I'm enjoying playing through the game again and experiencing all it has to offer, but on the other, I'm depressed that with the direction the videogame industry is taking that there will be no experience like this ever again.

When did the industry become about quick thrills rather than memorable experiences?

I can't speak for everyone, but for me, it started with multiplayer Halo 2.

Not sure where I'm going with this...

Shameful bump

Some indie studio will make a carbon copy of SC2 and sell bucketloads eventually.

But how would they make it accessible for a modern audience?

Wish I had your faith, brother.

Right, this emulates the experience perfectly...

Planet scanning is as much as this has in common with SC2
