A nice site I discovered recently with good reviews of many PC Engine games. Also this site is nice dedicated to PC Engine:
http://www.pcengine.co.uk/

Pic related: my favourite shmup for PC Engine after Lords of Thunder.

Star Parodia is great!

So much fun when playing with Bomberman or the PC Engine.

Lords/Winds of Thunder has hands down the better soundtrack though....if it weren't so fucking hard though..

I'm going to keep posting this game on /vr/ until every user on this board has played it

The only thing that pisses me off about the TG/PCE is that some of the BEST games were on CD, and the Turbo CD was $300 in eighties money. Much cheaper NOW, but still, a high hurdle.

That said, I'm not allowed to complain, because I dropped about $600 on a Neo Geo and a Phantom converter, bought Pier Solar, a Turbo Everdrive, and the NES version of the Everdrive N8 as well, all in the span of two months.

It's a great game, I prefer it over the super cd rom version

Hey OP, you have good taste.

I actually have those two games for my duo-r :3

>>724232

See >>722371 the music is much better (can't find a good example on youtube, though).

Huh, read >>724232 wrong, sorry. I still suggest the CD version, rockabilly is more fun.

i'd like to get into the pc engine/turbografx-16. is there a particular version i should seek out? i hear a lot about the duo-r. is there a version that can play american and jap version or will i need a console for each? i'm a big shmup fan and this console is missing from my collection.

duo-r are the best, because the regular pc-engine + cd interface requires you to use some kind of hu-card to play the CD games, and some games need some specific hu-card (like art of fighting, if I recall correctly).

Just tested my TG16 blazing lazers on my jap console for you, it works flawlessly. No idea if jap games in US consoles work too, and if it's the same for CD games.

CD based games are region free Hu Cards are region specific.

Can someone help me a little please?

I had a hard time finding a decent TG-16 emulator and it seems that the only one that could work, it isn't free.

I had only emulated some of the TG-16 games on my Wii but there isn't too much of the games. At leats they put a really good amount of the good titles, but a really want to emulate some of the games.

Ootake works fine and mednafen too if you want to emulate some PCFX.
