Is it just me, or are the sharks in Tomb Raider the scariest enemies?

>> No.7202440

encountering the gorillas for the first time scared me the most though

If you're not expecting it, the Eel is probably the scariest.

>> No.7202483

The t-rex scared me the first time I played, same with the bear.

That boss is more disturbing than it is just scary. There's just something about being less maneuverable and slowed down in water with limited weaponry while being chased by a giant beast with dozens of sharp teeth.

anything that swims is scary as hell because you can't look under you or above you or behind you and you are really trapped in water. I hate water in every game because it's super scary
remember the crocodile from that Indiana Jones game, the giant monster crocodile

>> No.7206062

>>7205256
Those might be the least scary enemies in Tomb Raider I've ever seen. Even bats are more frightening because they might knock you off a ledge. Tinnos guards are just annoying.

Everything related to Atlantis is fucked up (flesh walls, creatures biologically engineered, etc), but the centaurs got me because of how they are introduced. Those statues explode way too loud.

What the other anon said - they are legit scare if you play Nevada as your final chapter. The lack of ammo to deal with them makes them a serious threat, while being an upgrade of mutants from previous level.
Concept-wise, those mutants are if not the most scary, then the most disturbing things in Core-era games, even when compared with the various monstrosities from TR1

I will admit, one of the scariest sections in Tomb Raider I ever played was the RX Tech Mines section in Tomb Raider 3. Those giant mutants actually jump-scared me fucking good.

Does anyone know if there is another way out of this room in Wreck of the Maria Doria? I saved just before a timed(with no indication) trapdoor shut me down here and since it's PS1 I'd have to restart the whole level if this really is a dead end; and by restart the whole level I mean drop the whole game because to be perfectly honest this has been a total slog compared to the first one and I'm not redoing 40-50 minutes of this agonising italian genocide simulator.

Try to use the corner bug to jump above, I dunno about any other solution.

If I recall correctly you aren't trapped. I don't think there's really any way for you to softlock yourself in that level.

I would rather replay Wreck of the Maria Doria twice in a row, than play Sanctuary of the Scion once.

>> No.7211590

>>7211070
If it's any help, the game picks pace the moment you leave the wreck and action goes to Tibet. You are very close to it.
As for your problem: consult Stella's site. She used to have spoiler-free solutions to problems like this for each game. From me all you can get is a corner jump, already stated by other anon.
