One of the very first times I played on an N64 was at a relatives house, and I basically just did Windmill Plains over an over because I liked the plane.

True, I feel like the perfect range for vidya childhood nostalgia is SNES through PS2/GC with early N64 being the exception, everything before is also fine but almost eerie and strange due to tech limitations, and everything after is too well defined with no imagination potential and is also soulless corporate trash. It's not even my personal experience, I grew up with a PS1 and PC games so there's not much bias for the gens before and after, I just see and understand what's there to be nostalgic about. Hell I'm nostalgic for SNES games I only first played a couple years ago, but it's obviously not that comfy childhood nostalgia.
