Welcome to The Garage, a thread where fans of racing vidya can discuss their favorite arcade, sim, kart, and any other kinds of racing games. If you’re looking for something new to play or are new to the genre ask other anons for recommendations and remember to gear up and have fun.

Just a quick summary of F-weirdos and the nerdlinger militia

Imagine being such a nintendonut you can't have ANY criticism against F-queerbro, then imagine you're so insecure you LIE about wanting to have fun and enter the competitions, imagine you then change all the emulator settings to make the game EASIER to play because you really don't care then imagine you even mod 4 chan so only the right words and opinions facilitate your collectivist mind.... then imagine after all that you try to claim you aren't childish and a manbino in need of a safe area like his bedroom with its embarrassing posters and toys...

EXPOSING you fanny's like a streaker at a cricket match.

Top Anon. The car physics are really peculiar compared to its predecessors, which makes sense because Studio 33 took over from Reflections, but I've always adored its track designs.

The issue (IMO) is they are too floaty whereas DD2 in particular had a very grounded, almost (heh) raw feeling for the time. The crashes felt solid, the screeching metal gave it realism and the speed made it feel extreme. Raw just....doesn't capture that. I agree the track design is much better overall (fuck axehead though) but the jelly suspension and change to your car's health makes it the inferior game imo. Ironically despite being a bit more sim than DD ever was I find wreckfest to be a mostly worthy successor. I never played enough of flatout 1 to get a feel for it but looking at footage I get the feeling it draws from the same roots - though with cultural differences - that DD does.

Yeah, you've described the physics issue a lot better than I could. Fall Out was also a really odd track in the same "mud" vein as Axe Head.

I played them DD > Raw > Arenas > DD2 from what I recall. Arenas was a sad place for the series to die because it's not a bad game but it's not a Destruction Derby game.

I play on RR Hi-Spec (Pal version) on NTSC console.
It's just impossible. The maximum speed of bleu car is 260km/h (161mph) and this is more slow than your version. I drift at the same corner than you.
The time to beat for win this track is 4'40''765.

You can go faster on perfect drifts - the thing will scrape 170mph on exit. I will see if I can get a PAL copy of the rom and see if that affects the time in a significant way but I suspect not massively so as the timer is not tied to framerate.

Not him but you can't compare PAL vs NTSC on different games.
The issue is that not every developer made proper conversions for the other region, which is what causes the issues because a ton of games were developed in NTSC regions and not everyone made sure the games would play the same on PAL. (and vice-versa for European games developed for PAL first)
iirc thanks to the amount, there's more NTSC games that are worse on PAL than the other way around.

Here's the readme description. This lets you use all the cars in arcade SP mode, but the mod requires some kind of weird overlay because I guess there hasn't been much progress in directly modifying too much of the game itself. When the overlay works, it's completely imperceptible, but sometimes stuff like the radio might glitch out. Works flawlessly otherwise. I keep the overlay off because it messes with game recording.

>When in the 2SP(Arcade) car select menu, use your wheel to move to the right-most selection, return to center, and then move right again. You will hear a chime and the first
of the bonus cars, normally only selectable in 2k6 mode, will appear. Release again and turn right again to go to the next car. Turning left exits you to the normal selection.

It has been 22 years but I still remember the day I got the game and played it - the concept of weather and night time racing (coming from the ps1 version of NFSII) blew my mind so much I still play the game to this day. Admittedly not the ps1 version so much as my memory was but the experience is the same across versions.

yeah whats up with the brakes? i just found tapping it makes the retard mobile start wheel spinning? and tapping reverse instead is more effective, its defninitely a mental gam,e handling wise especially when it goes array, when you say smooth handing you mean just be gentle and precise?
