How many of you guys used to own these type of packs?

>> No.720106

I used to be gifted them all the time as a kid. Usually 4999 or them were shit that seemed like they were made in klik and play, with SkiFree and Commander Keen being the exceptions

>> No.720151

I have this particular one sitting on my shelf. They're mostly shareware/freeware titles or demos for games. I think my first experience with Little Big Adventure was a demo on this pack.

I knew this kid who had an X-in-1 cart for the Super Famicom.

Neither of us knew what a Super Famicom or that it was a bootleg game.

I don't even know where he got it.

>> No.720167

I had a bunch of these for my computer. It was always just a bunch of freeware/shareware DOS or 3.1 games.

OP here

I recently bought this off of ebay for $15. I was looking for a copy of the same "1001 Games" pack I had when I was a kid, and I came across this thing.

Not sure why though, maybe it was my obsession with playing "Aldo" all over again. It's like Donkey Kong... but worse.

I've had a few of those
It had a bunch of clones of tetris, worm, and tank vs. tank games. It's also how I discovered Pickle Wars

oh god I remember playing this game.

Yeah, I just decided to play a bit of it. Nothing like horrible hit-detection when trying to land on a platform. Fell straight through one because I didn't hit the ground correctly.

Not games, but I have one filled with PC demos up to the mid 90s.

I have a collection of the shareware cd roms we sysops would make available on our bbses to get users

Bump myself because people who want to have an authentic 90s cheapass PC experience (games and more) should really check this out. They even have a lot of the Twilight CDs available on there, which are the original ripped, copy protection disabled, pirate CDs. I don't know why they qualify for archive.org but I guess just for historical value.

FUCKING
ALDO!

Had it on "Classic Arcade 98", remember the animations being insanely fluid

Also had Mario & Lugi on there. Tried to run the full game in Dosbox but it crashed and flipped my screen vertically

Any of you guys remember the Champ Programming knock off games like Pac-Em?

Well, there's a dose of nostalgia! Their centipede clone wasn't half bad

>> No.723469

I remember buying a 4-pack set of CD-roms called "101 Games" or something to that effect at Babbage's, way back in 1997.

There were some total gems on there. One Must Fall 2097, Sango Fighter, Neophyte, and Vinyl Goddess from Mars (oh yeah, climb that vine).

I also found some cool little bizarre games like Aldo's Adventure, Bad Toys, and the Hugo House of Horror series.

Unfortunately they got sued by both Atari and Namco and had to shut down

Haven't been able to get any of the games working on Dosbox so far, which is a tad depressing

>> No.723491

>>723469

There was also a ridiculous Buster Bros. knockoff (the name escapes me) but whenever you died it played an audio clip of Bill Paxton screaming "GAME OVER MAN!"

>> No.723587

One that freeware and shareware DOS clones of Arcade games, One with lots of demos and a couple complete games that suck all sorts of ass and a few more modern shareware cds with tetris and pacman games on them.
