Just finished the RE HD Remaster and decided to give the original a shot; this one makes the case for justifying remakes. It's a fucking embarrassing starting place for a flagship title right to the beginning with that shitty dog puppet in the intro

Regardless of which version of RE you prefer, it should be given credit as an interesting experiment in media mixing and trying to create something new. Many franchises start on goofy and novel grounds while the franchise tries to find it's foothold. To me RE2 embodies the RE aesthetic of the franchise proper.
