If you're into romhacks, Sonic 2 XL is a fun challenge.

Remember to play most Genesis games with composite video, or shaders that simulate it. Those pinstripes present in most games are meant to blend into additional colors and transparencies. Pixels are not little squares. They are infinitesimal point samples from which images are extrapolated.

Also, connect audio to front headphone jack for stereo. The appropriate cables are easy to find.

The Micro Machines games were basically UK exclusive. The only Miccro Machines game that was released in North America was for the NES as an unlicensed cartridge. Turbo Tournament is great.

Pulseman is an interesting mix of Mega Man/ MMX and Sonic the Hedgehog. It borrows elements of both, but doesn't have the weapon upgrade of Mega Man. It is a fun game, with great looking graphics and sound. It was never released as a cartridge in North America, and only available on the SegaNet service in US/ Canada. It was released in Europe. This game was developed by Game Freak.

Don't forget about Awesome Possum Kick's Dr. Machino's Butt. This game generally gets called one of the worst Genesis/ Mega Drive games, and I can see why. However, this game does have some of the best audio samples I have heard on the console. The graphics and sprites and alright too. This games worst problem is that it runs at like 20fps. It has one of the best endings ever:

I can see that. I think Pulseman is a good game, it has really nice presentation. The concept is good. Game plays great. The levels can be a bit monotonous. I don't think it is as good as Rocket Knight Adventures. I'd rank it in the same tier as Sparkster.

I feel like Awesome Possum is one of the most cynical games on the Genesis/ Mega Drive. The name of the game itself pokes fun at Sonic. At the end of the game Awesome Possum does kick Dr. Machino in the butt. As the title implies. The game almost feels like a PC platformer from the early 90's running at 20+ fps.

Shadowrun is great on the Genesis. I also recommend Snatch for the Sega CD. It's not hard to emulate Sega/ Mega CD games.

I prefer the original NES Mega Man games. Wily Wars is an interesting collection though. Both Wily Wars and Pulseman were released exclusively on Sega Channel in North America. They were never published. Alien Soldier, Golden Axe III, Maui Mallard and Garfield: The Lost Levels were all Sega Channel exclusive.
