Crammed full of TECHNOLOGY
One of the many pre-Half Life 2 first person shooters that let you pick up all sorts of random crap from coffee cups on upwards and throw it at enemies

For anyone curious (I don't give a fuck if you aren't),

This image is from a performance of "Noah" by the Jubalaires and features rhyming music which is a predecessor to rap music. If you want to hear it make sure you don't watch the one where they infuse a rap beat and fuck it up.

Also I don't know how popular they are but I remember being amazed as a kid way back when Carnivore came out.

Yeah and all the games made with it (especailly Release 1) are immediately identifiable. Doesn't help that a lot of people reused the same assets that came with the software over and over again.

Daaamn, that screenshot reminds me of Hellforces. How wonderfully trashy that piece of shit was! A guilty pleasure of mine. I remember seeing trailer and not understanding a thing about the game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBVR0KWGah0
Its engine was later used in Stalin's Subway:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkQKYCkGIUQ
Also, to add to the thread: Psychotoxic, 2004. There was a fad in the mid-2000s to add psychic abilities to the games, and/or experiment with damage systems, adding bleeding or heavy wounds. That had abilities.

What waw the name of the fps from around 2004-2006 with the main character travelling to South America in search of his abducted daughter? I remember there were driveable cars in the game and you could make koney by driving a bus between towns. There were also many factions such as bandits, natives, military etc. And you had relations meter with them. I don't remember much about it. It felt sort of like Far Cry series, but it was something else.

Deep Shadows were developing Partisans on the updated Vital engine from Xenus and Xenus 2. Was aimed for Xbox360 and judging by the early prototype that used Xenus 1 and 2 assets, it was an open world FPS set in WWII Ukraine. Financial crisis hit the company hard (as it did pretty much every CIS studio working on single player titles) and there is very little information left on that one. But goddamn, a Xenus-scale WWII open world and similar gameplay with factions? That would have been an instant cult classic.

Some imagery was top tier, and the game, while janky, kinda went in the direction of realistic sombat. Definitely a unique universe, the studio also made two Bet on Soldier games in it.

I've heard that Ukraine (as of 2015) banned any imagery of the Soviet Union, which probably explains why games like this and Cryostasis haven't been re-released. Russian games on the other hand seem to revel in Soviet imagery, even in games that take place in the distant future like MorphX you will see Soviet propaganda.

>>7196191
The 2000's were a dark time for PC gaming; limited distribution, fear of piracy resulting in terrifying DRM like StarForce, and PC gamers being addicted to WoW all played a part in why such a large number of multiplatform releases didn't get PC versions.

KISS Psycho Circus which has absolutely no right to be THAT good and it's basically the missing link between the classic Doom-era shooters and the Serious Sam/Painkiller horde FPS.

Replayed it recently and holy shit, the grunts in this game make the Blood cultists look like Stormtroopers and it seems like the damage calculation and enemy spawning is broken.
In one instance you can go from 100 health and armor to near death in a split second while an enemy fires you in the back that suddenly spawend out of nowhere in the corridor you came from and if you reload and do the exact same shit again you can end up completely unscathed with no one sneaking up on you.

This game was actually quite deep for the system is was made on, with flashlights and fire extinguishers and motion trackers.
I used to love running around that one level with the.. face hugger enemies and just seeing all those red dots start to follow you, then run into a dead end coridor and just start blasting them with the machine gun.
