SP>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>GBA>>>>>>Micro

the GBA SP is by a fucking landslide the best portable gaming system ever created and was such a leap ahead of every other thing ever released when it came out. the backlit screen, the rechargeable battery, the utterly PERFECT clamshell design that made it actually truly portable, the amazingly tactile and clicky L and R buttons, the amazing D-pad. You got a nice sized screen and a system that felt good in the hands that also fit in a pocket comfortably. the peak of design.

If you're looking for the best battery life, GBA SP AGS-001 is the winner. It lasts 17 hours on a single charge, and it's got reflective LCD which means it can be played without the front light turned on. And even with the front light turned on, it still beats the model AGS-101's battery life on minimum brightness setting, like 10 hours vs around 6 hours max. Only retards buy the AGS 101, they'd better off buying some chinese emulator, there's literally nothing AGS-101 does better.

Assuming you've got a brand new original Nintendo battery in that
FYI modern chink batteries are shit and more likely to explode than provide hours of enjoyment

Did most SP owners play exclusively in mono because they couldn't be bothered to buy the adapter?

As kid, I refused to play my GBA without headphones or speakers, because I didn't want to miss any of the stereo effects.

I got mine through Nintendo Power and it came with headphones. Couldn't charge and use the headphones at the same time though.

That's why I slept on the SP.

My original model (in the correct color) would whine a bit when I charged my NiMH pack while playing, but I wasn't going to stop playing Golden Sun just because of that. I was in a race against my brother, and had to catch up to the devout nintendork at school and the AOL Instant Messenger tomboy I met on a phpbb site.

In that case, the original GBA is the better choice. It accepts any AA battery. Just buy 4 of them and swap them out when 2 of them run out. The screen might be shitty but that's fine. The battery life is even better than the SP.
