Yes and no. It's not a matter of being pissy as much as it's always been that you stipulate in your readme whether or not the custom assets you've created are free to use. For example, this is in the Whitemare 1 readme:

The following are some things to keep in mind when using and perusing this

2. These are MPW files, because Macintosh Programmer's Workshop is what we

3. This is real code written by real programmers and as such contains real
language, sometimes in variable names where it's impossible to avoid. If you
(or your parents) are especially sensitive to four-letter words, please
consider perusing some of the profanity-free source code available on the

4. This is the Mac source. The sole known archive of the Windows 9x source
was placed in a lead box and shipped to one of our island laboratories for
safekeeping. Unbeknownst to us, the boat carrying the box made an
unscheduled run up the coast of Madagascar, where the ship's captain hoped
to catch the end of the annual Miss Middle Of Nowhere pageant. The ship was
approximately six miles from shore when it was torpedoed by a one-man sub
purchased from the Hammacher-Schlemmer catalog by a punter with more money
than brains. Divers are still combing the sea floor looking for the box
containing the Windows code, and if we ever find it I'm sure we'll let you
know. Windows hackers with lots of spare time may still be able to do
interesting things with this code.

I definitely would like to see DTWID and D2TWID get added in. Main issue is that everyone involved needs to be contacted in order for it to be approved. At least BTSX has proven that large team megawads aren't completely out of the question.
Doom 64 for Doom 2 would be nice, too, but the fact that the entire megawad is remakes of Doom 64 maps (some of which being fairly accurate to the layout), this could pose problems. They might think it's inclusion would impact the sales of Doom 64 itself.

I just finished Adventures of Square. Here are my thoughts:

I did E1 in a continuous playthrough months ago, and I did E2 with pistol starts recently. I recommend continuous playthroughs for your first time. Doing pistol starts is a lot of fun, but there are some flaws in the levels that make it tedious. Your starting pistol has infinite ammo, and does very little damage, and the levels in E2 have turret enemies in every section - think of imps on ledges. However, there is no equivalent to a Doom shotgun in Square, a weapon with lots of ammo that can 2-3 shot distant imps, so if you pistol start, you end up being forced to use your starting pistol to snipe all those enemies on ledges. I mean, imagine being forced to use Doom's pistol. With that said, the feeling you get when you finally get your first uzi in a level is great; it can make pistol starts worth it. If you're already a seasoned pistol-starter, go for it, as you will have a blast; but if you've never pistol-started before, don't start here as the levels are very challenging with pistol starts

The combat in the game is excellent. I like it so much, I don't wanna switch back to plain Doom just yet, so I'm gonna pistol start E1 now.

Because the music is by James Paddock, some of the MIDIs are excellent, like E1A3.

Play without autoaim for the best experience - you need autoaim turned off to use the rocket launcher, as it is affected by gravity like grenades and arches, so you can't shoot enemies on ledges above you with it, which you can imagine is annoying. It doesn't hurt to play with autoaim and no-freelook (like classic Doom) before you get the rocket launcher, though, that's what I did until I got the rocket launcher, pic related.

The levels are designed for software lighting. The colors of the levels/enemies pop more. With that said, I still play with hardware rendering because I like to play with texture resizing (makes the game look cartoon-y to me, pic related), which doesn't work with software mode, and I also get subpar framerates on some levels in software mode

Holy shit, playing E3 of Quake really made me feel like I was in hell, in danger. No saves. Made sure to play it at night. By the end of M6, my heart was thumping, I was surging with adrenaline. They know how to build suspense. The NIN OST is crazy, too, really gets on your nerves. It was scary, and over in about an hour. Yeah, pitch calculations were essentially inverted. Wasn't so bad by itself since it was a universal standard, but making a "fixed" version while labeling the previous one with the dreaded [DEPRECIATED] warning can make things more confusing when going back and forth.
