PS2 ODE when? I'm tired of disk swapping to play my burned PS1 games.
And no POPSloader is not a solution

Don't think there's much of a market for this considering the PS2 has had hard drive support forever, just get the PS1 ODE.

>hard drive support
Yeah lemme drop money on yet another PS2 along with a HDD adapter instead of using the slim I already own while even the fucking Dreamcast has an ODE.

just emulate

PS2 is the same as the PS1 in that the drive components are in the board itself. there's no easy way to install ODEs without soldering and lifting pins.
if the drive could be controlled from the OS level, sure. but as far as I know there's no way to access the mechacon with software.
if you're really that lazy just get a PS3. or better yet, emulate. perspective correction does wonders for PS1.

you best not be installing that on a fat

Most people seem to say network loading is superior to anything an ODE could provide.

If the Dreamcast was able to play games off of a hard drive with nothing more than a VMU and a $20 hardware addon than it wouldn't have gotten an ODE, anon.

>>7190069
Network loading is for fags. It's slow, and the compatibility sucks. Seriously, just get a fat PS2 (they're cheap as hell, literally tens of millions of them were released) and a Network Adapter, it's not that hard.

>>7190449
Playing games from a USB stick is for double fags. Loading a game from the PS2's USB 1.1 ports is so slower than loading from an optical disc - on the PS2's disc drive, the maximum transfer speed of a DVD is 5.4MBps, a CD-ROM is 3.6MBps, and USB 1.1 is 1.5MBps, but actual transfer speeds will be lower on all three. Just for kicks, the PS2's maximum transfer speed over ATA with a hard drive is 66MBps.

Wow I'm actually surprised such a popular console still has no SD-based DVD/HDD replacement.
Sure it's nice to have a fat model with network adapter, but not only it's a bit expensive you are also forced to rely of buggy PSX emulation in case you want to play some older games.
