Let's get a Gameboy general going, shall we?
This is a thread for everything Gameboy: GB, GBC, and GBA.
What are you playing on your Gameboy at the moment?
What are your favourite Gameboy games?\
Have you ever made any modifications to a Gameboy or have a modded Gameboy?

I just beat kirby's dream land 2 last night was really fun and surprisingly challenging for a kirby game. Not sure what I'll play next. I have an everdrive though so the world is mine.
>What are your favourite Gameboy games?
mario land 2 and pokemon the ones I go back to the most. Spanky's quest is my fav. lesser known title. And game & watch gallery 2 the most nostalgic.
>Have you ever made any modifications to a Gameboy or have a modded Gameboy?
I've never modded myself but I own an ags 101 modded original GBA. I also recently ordered a mcwill modded atomic purple GBC that I'm patiently waiting for, pic related/

Meant to say exhausted, but apparently it was breddy thirsdy as well, it slurped up a drop of honey the size of it's own head before buzzing away.

Here's a shot from my cellphone for comparison. Bees have a weird drinking apparatus. Their proboscis splits open to reveal a tongue with tiny, expanding bristles, which help increase the surface area and easy drinking. Made a video with my cellphone where part of the process is visible, but it's too big to upload.

Step 1: have a bee land on your windowsill on a hot late summer day
Step 2: bee is exhausted and just wants to chill for a moment
Step 3: offer drop of honey to bee; bee sits still for a couple of minutes drinking it
Step 4: point cellphone at bee and take a picture

Not that much effort really, just got lucky. Not a beekeeper (though I'd get a hive if I ever owned property because bees is cool folks to be around). Also not a researcher, just generally curious about nature. I read up on wikipedia and checked some research papers about the proboscis because I wondered how it worked.

Yeah, exactly. The bee gif wouldn't have been possible without the macro lens. I've thought about modding for "proper" lenses too, but I couldn't be bothered. I don't take a lot of pictures lately, and they're fine for what they are, even with the problems associated with the magnetic lenses (focus plane etc).

If you remove the outer white plastic ring around the lens, you'll find there's a planar surface underneath, which might make attaching anything properly somewhat easier.

Oh it's noticeable. The 001 has a really significant tint due to the front light whereas the 101 has more accurate colours.

The only reason I use a 001 myself is because my 101 is broken and doesn't play sound through its speaker, I definitely wish that weren't the case. And before you ask the screens aren't swappable, I tried.

I've got this gameboy as well as a gbc that has a gameboy horror lense and matching shell. Just gotta get a better screen for it before I install the lense. I have other like atomic purple and some gbas but those are all common ones.

It's amazing, obviously has its limits due to the hardware. The story mode has a neat little RPG function. It's one of my favourite games. You have to love grandmothers who pick out awesome, and very random, games for you.

yes! It's beautiful, pictures don't do it justice. It will take a bit to get used to the sheer sharpness of the screen though, but I'm happy with it overall

same guy on etsy called gamechangermods has the fullsize ips versions too. There's pros and cons between both screen types. But honestly the smaller mcwill size is not that bad, while playing you don't really notice it's smaller than the original/

I bought a backlit dmg from 8bitaestethics (through his own website, not etsy. still hasn't arrived since he seems to take quite some time, even before factoring in shipping) and all the pics show the small screen.
I almost bought from gamechangermods but etsy suspended my account by error just because it was new I guess. they supposedly lifted the suspension so I'll check him out again.

usually the color of the labels are slightly off for fakes. On ebay you're always protected as a buyer though, if you get a fake that is listed as genuine, you'll get your money back

I was so addicted to Pokémon Silver that I played it even in high school while others were having sex...

Zelda DX is great. Also loved King of Fighters heat of battle or whatever (with Geese Howard). It's surprisingly well made for a Gameboy fighter.

Mario DX was also fun despite the small screen.

The Kirby and Mario lands are fantastic and still playable IMO.

What I hated are the Mega Mans (maybe except V) and the Mortal Kombats on Gameboy. Terrible unplayable messes.

I started playing this on my Vita the other day. It's actually pretty awesome for a GBC point-n-click.

Use a styrofoam cooler, aluminum foil, and a strip of UV LEDs.
>line cooler with foil
>run led strip around the inside
>suspend shell inside with fishing line or place on a clear drinking glass
Constant, direct exposure and more potent than sunlight all in a ~$25 setup.
If you have an extra $10 to spend, you can even use a small electric turn table inside.
