Meanwhile... Genesis/MD users were screwed over by this version of Batman Returns.

I think i spent 90 percent of the time in it halting my own combos and restarting them with block? Correct me if that's wrong, but I'm pretty sure that was this game's brand of combo jank. The other 10 percent wondering who decided Batman can't run.

Otherwise it had pretty satisfying (and exploitably invincible) throws and everyone who played it was addicted to the upward throw that would crash the enemy into the top wall and break scenery.

I remember Catwoman being the token annoying boss.

The one on the left almost looks like Captain Marvel (Shazam). That would have been a pretty great concept back in the day, Superman arcade game with Billy as player 2.

>Yeah, but at least the driving levels on the Sega CD version is decent.

The Sega CD version does add some pretty cool scaling sprite driving levels. Also the music is great in the game, despite not sounding Danny Elfman-like. The Genesis/ Mega Drive game is OK-ish in my opinion. Not great, not the worst.

The Lynx version is interesting:

Snes batman returns thread? Perfect. Just spent the last few days getting a no continue clear on mania and have a few questions. Am I missing a trick by not really using the grapple hook during the normal stages? Batarangs just seem much more useful and I ended up never really messed around with it much. You get a life every 50k so are there any good point milking techniques to squeeze out more lives over the course of a run? Any way to get on top of the last part of the under construction building stage without falling? Good cat woman strats? She still takes at least one life off me in both fights.
>whip
Free damage although she only swings it once on mania so its a tight window
>kicks
block it and trade taking the damage for a good opening
>fast single forward dash
Lingering as fuck hit box that I hate but really feels like it should be an opening
>flips like a fuck then multi dash
Test tube that shit

Isn't she the Carnage of this game, ie will just randomly break out of hitstun to start attacking? I might be remembering wrong but if that's the case there's little you can do.

Running isn't a staple in beat'em ups. The game is perfectly fine without running.

Catwoman is easy to cheese. She's actually the easiest boss to beat without taking any damage. Both fights.

>> No.7189215

>>7188909
>>7188934
Catwoman is easy to exploit.

1) Don't block. Ever.

2) Either do punch infinites or grab infinites. In the first fight, she will break out after a certain amount of damage so it's better to do modified "infinites" linked into a grab, knee, knee, throw. Then she'll start flipping around.

3) When she starts flipping around: Don't test tube. Ever. It's a waste. Literally no need to. Her dash attack has a pattern, it's not random. Learn the pattern, it's simple. You should never get it by it. Ever.

The entire game is VERY controllable. There's literally no random cheapness in the game. The bosses are extremely exploitable and the easiest parts of the game.

I never played this but the movie is okay. It was burdened with too much Burtonry and the Penguin parts dragged. It's really good in some places though. Despite being just okay, it is better than any subsequent Batman movie except maybe Batman Begins. No I didn't like The Dark Knight.

Indeed and amen. What was the shit SNES even good at? Not these kinds of games. Not shooters, as evidenced by the massive amount of far superior shooters on the Mega Drive and PC Engine. Not platformers, as evidenced by the Mega Drive's total domination in that genre. Not even RPGs, as the PC Engine's far better JRPG library, and the Amiga's far better CRPG and SRPG library shows. So what is the SNES actually good at?

I highly suggest The Settlers, Syndicate, UFO: Enemy Unknown, Pirates!, and Laser Squad, there are many more to be had, such as Dune, Mega Lo Mania, Civilization, which begin to cross over into more God games or grand strategy, but regardless of exact genre classifications, the Amiga ought not to be glossed over, there are many, many incredible games for the platform.
