the idea of this game utterly transfixed me as a kid, it was like a dream, too good to be true. all the powerups in mario 3, characters in 2, and world on top of it. Never got a chance to play it until I was older on an emulator.

If I am not mistaken, the Super Mario Allstars + Super Mario World cartridge was only ever included as a pack-in game with certain SKU's.

I'm not sure if you could buy this version as a stand alone catridge.

How is the All-Stars version less responsive? The biggest change that the All-Stars release has is Luigi's sprite:

In the original Super Mario World cartridge, Luigi has the same sprite as Mario, but with a colour pallet swap. In Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World, Luigi has an updated sprite with a larger head and smaller body, like the SMB2(USA) sprite. I think Nintendo also updated the saving system in this version. Otherwise it is still the same game. Nintendo put the SMW ROM on a All-Stars cart so they wouldn't have to bundle two separate cartridges with each console.

Agreed. The graphics overhaul really makes the game pop and tears away the old hands of the inferior NES, as well as the highly improved ost. Literally no reason to ever play the originals.

They redid Mario Brothers (arcade) which is what smb3 thing is, in the Mario Advance series, it's fucking BASED.
(Also look into Wrecking Crew SFC remake)
