I'll start with a fairly simple tutorial everyone should familiarize themselves with.

Which port should I play?
Dreamcast, Xbox, PS2 or perhaps PS3/360?

Not a MvC2 player myself but I play fighting games and have some knowledge of the various versions.

>Dreamcast
Far and away the best version of MvC2, not just on console but in general. This port is actually better then even using naomi hardware as it was prone to slowdown, something that is nonexistent on the dreamcast version. This is literally a perfect port.
>Ps2/Xbox
Both are okay ports but feature a number of bugs and slowdown problems. They are not unplayable, but really these versions are more of collector's items then anything today. I think xbox is slightly better then ps2.
>PS3/360
I forget why but I know the 360 version is considered superior of the two. These ports have a number of problems, varying from visual glitches to moves not working correctly, but are still used even today thanks to their online functionality. If you are interested in seriously playing MvC2 look into getting a 360 and learn how to put it on it, the game was only available for a limited time due to licensing issues.

As some one that has played MVC2 on all those consoles

1) Dreamcast (Straight arcade port)
2) XBOX 360 (Runs better than the ps3 version
3) XBOX (It plays fine, but it does feel off at times. Nothing super noticable nor will it hinder gameplay
4) PS3 (The menus hiccup from time to time. Gameplay is fine)
5) PS2 (Version just feels super off and loading is far worse than other ports. The graphics also look bad.
