Sounded like an amazing service. It was never going to take off - they released it too late into the Genesis's lifespan while being too early for Internet gaming in general - but must have left so many good memories to the people who used it.

Yeah, I did when I was 4 or 5. The situation was perfect since my dad worked at the post office plant night shifts and slept during the day, and I was out of the loop with current video game trends. It was pretty cool to play the Ooze and ToeJam and Earl even though I didn't know what the fuck was going on. There was another weird-ass game I remember when I had the chicken pox playing was where some bum chad was at the beach trying to hit on some girls, then they get abducted by aliens, and he has to save everyone. It drew me nuts because there were these lotion pick-ups and I was itching like a motherfucker.

A friend did. I didn't have a Sega console until the Dremcast, so no Sega Channel for me (and even if I did have a Genesis when it was current, I doubt my parents would've paid for it). Really don't remember playing much on it at his place, except for maybe a little bit of Wily Wars.

I hate how America never got a localization of Willy Wars, Pulseman and Alien Soldier because they decided to use it to showcase this service.

I hate how America never got a localization of Willy Wars, Pulseman and Alien Soldier because they decided to release it exclusively on Sega Channel to showcase the service. Also they released half of Garfield Caught in the Act through Sega because they couldn't fit it on the cartridge.

Not me but OP is mostly right. Sega made a bold move for the time but I'd rather have a physical Alien Soldier release.

My friend who had it came from a relatively wealthy family, and we both lived in an affluent suburb in the southern US. Probably only rich kids and older gamers in their 20s/30s would have had it. I'd be surprised if too many poorer gamers got it as a way to save money by not having to rent or buy new carts and instead only relying on whatever SC had up for play.

You're thinking of Normy's Beach Babe-O-Rama. I used to play that at my friend's place but I remember it not being very good.

About how long would you say the games took to download?
