Stop with this meme. Even the Saturd had better ports. At least they were close to arcade perfect due to the Saturd and Titan arcade hardware being almost identical.
The Dreamcrap on the other hand had massively downgraded ports, both in visual and audio quality due to the Dreamcrap having such inferior hardware compared to its arcade counterpart the Naomi.
I think I read the Naomi had literally 4x as much memory for sound, for example. Kind of sad to see people on this website defending such a shit console and shit ports, but it's obviously some kind of buyer's remorse lingering from childhood.

If you want to be daring, you could buy a USB-GDROM. I bought mine ages ago before everyone learnt that the bastard developer made the thing brick itself and require updates in order to keep working to prevent clones being developed. People close to him say that he's removed it now though, but he himself has never publicly acknowledged that such a thing actually existed. I've always been happy with mine. It doesn't require any formatting like the GDEMU and it's cheaper than the MODE.

Not really. Master System, Mega Drive and even the Saturn have a far more interesting library.

So many issues with the Dreamcast that people ignore. Just take, for example, the VMU. Look at this thing. Did Sega really expect the Dreamcast to survive the generation into 2005-2006 with a fucking Tamagotchi as a memory card?

So many games on this console was completely overlooked (at least in the US).

Cannonspike, Power Stone 1 & 2, Jet Grind Radio, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Crazy Taxi, Star Wars - Jedi Power Battles, & Soul Caliber.

It goes on & on tho. It would bum me out that my friends didn't know what they were missing out on. We would always have fun playing them shits when they came over tho.

In 2010, I gave my Dreamcast games to a friend when I was suicidal af. I had to have over 50+ games with the booklets & everything. I gave him a bunch of other games too. I am estimating several $1000's-worth in today's value, lol. He hosts my site now tho, & says he will indefinitely for having him hooked up with so many fucking games.

I don't even regret it, truly. I like my shit backed up. I had too many shelves of media in my earlier days. It's so much better having external harddrives & the like.

You're only offering an excuse (Sega damaged its trust with consumers) without explaining why the Dreamcast was unable to rebuild this trust. As other posters have mentioned, the Dreamcast has so many chinks in its armour that it was an insurmountable task to compete with the superior PS2 and Xbox consoles. Those are just the plain facts.

If Sega damaged its trust - the lack of DVD drive, novelty memory cards and a mostly arcadey/fan service games library wasn't going to restore Sega to its former glory. Keep in mind, both Nintendo and Sony have had their reputations damaged in the past thanks to the WiiU and PS3 respectively and both console makers were able to bounce back in the subsequent generation.

Sega didn't. Sega failed and the Dreamcast wasn't a good enough machine to bring it back. As simple as that.

Neither came close to the shit shows Sega unleashead, PS3 had a shaky start and that was it they still stuck by the system. Nintendo at least did the bare minimum with the WiiU and kept the system going for 5 years. Meanwhile SEGA launched 32X, and killed it instantly. The Sega Saturn their main home console was killed three years into the systems life and they couldn't even deliver on the 1998 lineup.
So yes a good amount people thought just as I did why should I play Russian roulette with SEGA. I'll just buy a PS1 for the time being see how things develop, I have no idea why you even mention XBOX , Dreamcast was toast by the time the OG XBOX launched.
For that dumb ass comment about arcade games, the most sought out games for the PS2 at launch were DoA2 Hardcore,Ridge Racer V and Tekken Tag Tournament.

Sega was king of sports and pretty much any preteen weeb edgelord. Sonic was fucking dope, controller was comfortable. System didn't look like old cum on a sock from watching blurred spice channel, matched the 32 inch tv with its vcr and fake ass wood entertainment center held up by the 100s of tapes your mom would have for soap operas. Sega with the genesis was lightning in a bottle and the years after that they would put a gem out in dogshit. I was glad to get a dreamcast in my early college years. You'll need to post some comparisons because all I can find is that you have a slightly higher top speed in CT, probably because it loads from a cartridge on the Naomi. Some Naomi games are on GDs and STV and Saturn would have the same issue. Even if they have the same specs the STV is more memory efficient because of the lack of buffer space needed to execute data from the roms. So I'm sure you could go through that library and pick minute differences. Very few games out there are truly arcade perfect but most Naomi to DC conversions are.

The dreamcast was the only console I ever owned that broke regularly. I went though a solid 4 of these fuckers due the lens / top issues.

The lens got dusty as fuck all the time, if you tried to clean it you had a good chance of fucking up the alignment.

The top hatch broke really easily and it was just shit all around.

Not him but just compare the textures in HOTD2 and Crazy Taxi to their superior original arcade versions, for example. And that's just graphcis. A lot of games have downgraded audio or slowdown issues.
