This board was amazing in it's first year. It's subsequently been ruined by a shitty, hostile culture.

/v was unbelievably edgy and angry at that time, and this place attracted a different sort of personality. The users here were helpful, and interested in discussing vintage games. When someone got too agitated or started trolling, other anons would reply with "/vr is not /v" because we wanted this place to have a distinct identity.

Now the two boards have switched completely. Never thought I'd see that happen... I'd rather talk shop about oldschool games on /v than this place. Nobody can have a discussion without it being derailed by bizarre contrarian ad hominem attacks.

In the catalog right now, there's no real discussion happening about any subject. Every set of responses to any question is a refutation of the question itself... absolutely tragic.

Mods gave it to them last year. Majority of old users left, and were replaced with the "le ironicly retro" crowd. That's why you don't see people uploading cool shit for others anymore around here.
