Bait aside, this is honestly one of the shittiest consoles ever made. The library is 99.99% fecal dog shit by volume, almost every "good" game is a soulless, grey, proto-modern third person action game like GTA or God of War, and the only other games worth playing are multiplats that are better on Xbox or PC ports that are better on PC. The graphics are garbage, the console lacks basic shading and rendering capabilities that even the fucking N64 had, and the thing absolutely sucks as a DVD player. The build quality is third world, the laser is guaranteed to go at some point, but the disc tray mechanism will probably wear out long before that. I've owned 3 Xbox 360s over different points in my life and the PS2 was the only console that ever shit on me, go figure. About the only nice thing I can say is that it had decent aesthetics and the controller was semi okay. Aside from that, the library is shit, the graphics are shit and there's really no reason to own one if you have access to a PC. Vastly overrated console.

Literally everything worth playing on PS2 is available on Xbox outside of maybe King's Field IV and a few other obscure jap games. Dark Alliance, GTA, MGS2, Timesplitters 2, everything was on Xbox but with better graphics, better sound, higher resolution, better online support and more content. The best thing about the PS2 was being able to play PS1 games, but if you're going to try and convince me that Jak and Daxter or GoW were epic masterpieces that made a PS2 worth owning, then you have shit taste and need to play more games.

why does the ps2 put out such a dark image? the colors are either dark or pastel, not bright like you see in some gc and xbox games. or that's how it seems at least, i've never actually compared multiplats side to side. It just always seemed ps2 games had a dark and gray look to them. ps3 too compared to 360.
