I want to like this due to how hyped it is but it's so slow and clunky. What am I missing here?

Overall how important is it to give a fuck about zodiac signs during combat. It always seems like an extra layer of autistic busy work to make sure I'm keeping track of that in party-building and attacking appropriately and it makes me not want to get into FFT.

It's basically a "cherry on top" mechanic to add another calculation layer for missing or guaranteed hits/spells.

Overall, autistic min/maxers will include it in pre-planning their teams/strategy, but there's no real way to account for your randomized opponents zodiac sign.

Don't spend any real time worrying about it on your first play through. It's just going to be there in the background either randomly making your life easier, or making your life harder.

You can choose the sign fo your team which helsp a LOT. If you have worst compat with Weigraf it makes the fight against him much easier. I remember a bad compat fight with my Ramza as a preist and I kept spamming holy.

You pretty much have to be a statistician to play this unfortunately. Oh well, at least us brainlets can still enjoy Iwata and Sakimoto’s sublime ost: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPGBxgk6rJE

It is a turn based tactics game, what the fuck do you mean by slow and clunky? Is basically menu navigation and tile selection.

Yeah, but the best strategy for Wiegraf is always going to be just walking up to him (or leveling a knight into an archer) and using weapon break. Takes all the wind and difficulty out of him if he can't use his sword skills.

It's a different story with Velius, but at that point I think sign compatibility changes anyway because he goes from man to monster, and monster is always opposite sex of whatever unit is attacking it if I remember right.

Threadly reminder that Joe reditter simped for erin matei and got butthurt when mike rejected his pitched avgn episode script but he just ate it when mike replied in a "lmao I dont care faggot" matei fashion and then joe lashed out against fucking tony (KEK)
Also reminder joe has yet to fire back at mike after mike humiliated joe and exposed him as a cheater on a j&mm episode

Unless you have an autistic boner for micro-management, statistics, and grinding, you're not missing anything except maybe Hitoshi Sakimoto's fantastic music.

I swear he has maintenance as a support skill right? Even then he has Punch Arc as a backup likely entirely because of that.

But Holy Knight sword skills are like insanely broken and any character that has them is just better.

You guys are way over thinking it. It's not much more complex than FFV for the most part.

Just build a half-decent team. Get Ninjas, chemists with guns, two sword knights, blade grasp dudes, two sword knights, wizards with Flare, etc.

Some good support and reaction abilities to protect your neck:

>auto potion
>blade grasp
>HP Restore
>counter
>defense up
>move HP UP
>Abandon (doubles equipment evasion!)

Nothing's wrong with you.T-RPGs that require grinding were a mistake and adding random ennemy encounters on top of that an even bigger one. Grinding for extra skills and shit is not fun and not tactical.

Some exemple of T-RPG doing it right :
- Super Robot Taisen - preferably any episode from Alpha onwards
- Vandal Hearts
- Shining Force
- Front Mision

Nah, not the first two times you face him at least. I think you're thinking of the Elmdor fight in War of the lions where they added Maintenance/safegaurd back into his abilities to stop theft of the genji armor. One of the best things about the original American version was removing that dumb shit.

>T-RPGs that require grinding

The game does not require grinding though. The story battles + the randoms you find normally are enough. It is very beatable at fairly low levels with low skills and equipment.

I beat this game multiple times as an 11 year old with no idea the Zodiac compatibility element was even in the game. It's really not that hard once you figure out at least 1 of the dozens of ridiculously broken builds in the game. You can get a Ninja in the Chapter 1 with like 2 hours of grinding and then coast through the rest of the game until THAT fight in Chapter 3. And even that one can be beaten by just giving everybody on your team Auto-Potion

all amazing games (especially Vandal Hearts) but they pale in comparison to the sheer amount of customization you have in FFT, and I've always felt like Tactics had the best story out of all of these as well.
>>7168652
>The game does not require grinding though
It doesn't require grinding to scrape your way to the ending but you're kidding yourself thinking that grinding to get the best classes/builds isn't a huge part of the game. The grinding and random battles never bothered me anyways because the combat is just genuinely fun to me but I can understand other people not being able to get through it
