What is /vr/'s thoughts on McKids?

>> No.7145189

An incredibly decent McDonalds advergame platformer.

>> No.7145206

I think it's called M.C. KiDS, not McKids.

Bizarrely, it's one of the better western-developed platformers.
The music is also great.

My siblings and I loved this as a kid, but I tried it recently and it felt extremely floaty. I wouldn't recommend it to someone with no memories of it.

Best played with the romhack that purges Ronald Mc Donald and related branding from the game.

Haven't actually played the game, but its music is surprisingly really good, well the NES version. I saw some footage of the GB one and that version's music was horrible. I think the GB one was turned into a Cool Spot game in the US.

I remember renting this several times as a kid. I can’t recall if we ever beat it. I remember a lot of dashed line missing blocks and getting frustrated a lot.

M.C. Kids? For me, it's their first album.

It's a surprisingly good game if you can get past the McDonald's branding. I honestly don't know what problem people have with this. It's no different from playing a game based on any franchise.

It has good controls and interesting mechanics, like inverted gravity and low gravity. People like to compare this game to SMB3 but SMB3 doesn't have any of these mechanics. The only similarity they share is that they're both platformers that reward exploration but even then, I believe M.C. Kids is better in that department, since you always have to be on the lookout for hidden M cards.

Another think I like about this game, though I'm aware this is all personal preference, is that it doesn't have water levels. FUCK swimming mechanics, dude, and fuck all those platform games that feel the need to include this shitty gimmick.

The tude era was such a fucking mistake for marketing and releasing unique titles but at the same time it was so fucking rad

Second best McDonald's game.

I used to love the title screen song back in the day. I was way too young to have actually owned the game on NES, I just heard it from some Youtube recommendation or something.

We definitely need a modern game that expands on mcdonald's lore much like mckids

>> No.7151459

Does McDonalds even have "lore" anymore? None of Ronald's friends exist anymore and Ronald himself barely exists either.
