I'm not completely retarded so I bought an android's bluetooth controller and clip so I can do that that way.

However my father wants to play on the crt he has and hates the emulator ideas of mine so I've got him, as I'm neet, the 30 (though price gouged to twice that) usd pocketgo original for him. It is in the mail. Of all I've researched that's probably the cheapest that's worth getting. One would buy a 5 usd (also price gouged) pi zero or similar but they're not only price gouged but by the time you buy that and put it together you've spent 15 on the chip, 40 on the cheapest hat they have (screen, buttons, etc), and still have no battery nor sd card at the end of that day, and it will use hdmi and not crt composit, and of course will take XD to get it to even use the hdmi in the first place.

So yeah. 60ish ugly vs 60ish less ugly and more practical, but weirder os. I wonder which to pick?

>pic the most expensive!

So many flavors to choose from in that case.

Bitboy would be cheaper a bit though, the people that made the composit using thing have another thing. Anyway, it's shit so it's not my research image. The image I'm posting shows the second pocketgo version also. The pocketgo I might have to change the firmware of, people do that to get rid of faggy glitches I've read, so you need some partition software to even do it. I hate that gay shit. I have a zero I've never used because lakka required such fuckery to put the psx bios in, yet lakka doesn't let zero even attempt that in the first place, and the snes was so bad that even though it was fast layers were missing, and then gba was super slow, yet my hacked ps2 is okay with it in comparison on both accounts. It's sooo tiring, but so is my father buying atgames shit. The pocketgo will fool his brain into licking it as it uses the crt tvs he loves and is a similar shape to the flashbacks he owns of atari and sega. He wanted a mini jewtendo and I decided to get this for him for nes and snes.

SEGA Genesis / Mega Drive Mini (42 games, $50, target.com, $60 wallmart)
Neo Geo Mini (40 built in games, $60 wallmart
go-retro-portable-game-player (260 games, capcom games, $40 target.com

The first isn't handheld, but I think its the best retro console deal with built-in games. Ideally I would like something with a bunch of JRPG already built into it. I just want a game system where I don't have to hassle with emulators but doesn't require an internet subscription to play.

I just ordered an RG350P with a RG350M screen (separately) a couple of days ago. I did it since I heard a lot of people complaining about the weight of the RG350M, and the last time I bought something because everyone recommended it, I ended up regretting it because the weight (my phone).

After looking for solutions, I stumbled across the one I quoted before, both items are slightly more expensive than ordering just an RG350M, but I think it will be worth it because it's lighter and after I swap the screen, I'll have everything the other console offers, minus the aluminium body.

Got one of these myself, really is different than the handhelds released in years previous. Performs up to PS1 flawlessly, scales GBA games perfectly at 2x, can use shaders from Retroarch, lower-res screen looks more natural with pixelated games, and many PSP and Dreamcast games run full-speed with more and more working well with each update. Order from Amazon or eBay so it's easy to get another one if you're really afraid of Chinese shit.

I recommend ArkOS or 351Elec OS if you pick one up, the stock OS isn't bad but isn't as optimized by the online community.

Was formerly a phoneplayer but got tired of giant black bars on my 2:1 display, and the weight of my phone in the gamepad, not to mention battery life.

Playing Game Gear, Neo Geo Pocket, and GB/A is especially wonderful.

Hey, I'm the guy a few posts up that bought one. I've been enjoying PS1 on this thing, though all I've really played for an extended period is Soul Blade.

I'm cooler with stretching 4:3 to 3:2 than I am with bars on the side, and unless you're really OCD about it, it fades from the mind after a play session or two - it's not ungodly like stretching to 16:9 or 16:10, but I understand this is personal taste. Out of the box, the scaling may seem bad because it's set to nearest neighbor by default. It's easy to open up Retroarch settings and switch on RGPA scaling or a lightweight interpolation shader like pixelate or quilez and then it looks great.

Will there be better handhelds out within the next year or two? Probably. But they'll cost 1.5x to 2x as much as this thing costs for a good while, and personally I only wanted it for retro vidya, I have a competent rig and a big screen to upscale newer generations.

A bonus would be playable GB/C mainly for Pokemon Yellow, Warioland 2, Six Golden Coins etc, SNES for Super Metroid, Mariokart and Chrono Trigger, 1 game on PSP (PE Third Birthday) those are all non essential though. PS1 has been 60fps solid for me.

You only get into iffy territory if you want to play Dreamcast, N64 or PSP. I'd say DC and PSP have about a 20% fullspeed rate at current (with ArkOS at least, haven't tested 351Elec), and about 40-50% with frameskipping set to 1. If it's a 2D Dreamcast or PSP game, it'll probably run full speed. Everything else is a gamble that will err more in your favor the longer it's out. The N64 emulation just hasn't been optimized - some stuff runs perfectly fine, some stuff is choppy as hell. At this point, expect Mario Kart 64, but not Perfect Dark

Everything else below DC and PSP, I've had 0 issues with no matter what I've thrown at it.

>>7135717

You can stretch wide or do bars as you please, the only important thing to remember is that it has no scaling on by default so you might think you got duped until you turn it on lol.

PS1 and GBA emulation are pretty much perfect. GBA doesn't even need interpolation turned on because this screen is a perfect 2x scale of the GBA screen. On GBA I use a shader that changes the colors to the GBA screen colors and it's a real treat.

Just gonna do a full rundown for the curious

Anbernic RG351P Pros and Cons

Pros:
>Emulates everything up to PS1 fullspeed and accurately
>N64, PSP and DC emulation improving with every software update
>Good control setup, especially for those that prefer d-pad above stick
>Perfect screen for GBA emulation, it really does look nice
>4-5 hours of battery at max performance
>personal thing, but it has an old-school volume wheel and I really like that

Cons:
>Needs a wifi dongle to have wifi capabilities. If you order from any of the Anbernic stores across eBay, Amazon or even AliExpress, they will include one for free.
>No scaling turned on by default, so games that aren't GBA may look unevenly-scaled until you turn on RGPA scaling or an interpolation shader in settings. For non 3:2 content, your options are scaling it wider or black bars for perfect pixels.
>Has similar flaw to Switch where fast-charging adapters can damage the system. Use included adapter or an older cell charger

All in all I'm really pleased with it, but make sure to look up a starter guide and decide on an OS to replace the stock one with, unless you just want to rock the default OS, which works but doesn't have as many performance optimizations as 351elec and ArkOS.

I'd say the only thing that could compete in the price range is the Retroid Pocket 2, but I don't like Android emulation, the main screen is Android instead of an immersive gaming OS, and it has the stick above the d-pad, which I don't like for retro emulation.

Honestly, I don't think it charges quickly enough to be viable from flat. The battery has a good life when fully charged but definitely isn't high-end, so I don't know if I'd want to stress it by playing it plugged in a lot either. I'll play it until it's down to about 15-20% (~4 hours playing GBA, Neo Geo Pocket and PS1 for me), and then charge it when I'm doing chores or sleeping. Mine gets its charge back in an hour or two depending on how low I take it.

On the charger, I've read to use 1.3a if you can, nothing above 2a. Some people have said not to use 2a either, sadly I don't have much personal experience on this. On the back of the console itself it says this:

>Rating: 5V — 6.5W
>Battery: LiPo 3.8V 3500mAh
>Adapter Input: 5V = > 1.3a
