It was a good game, very ambitious for the GBC, but the series really didn't start hitting its stride until Shantae and the Pirates' Curse. If you've never played a Shantae game before, that's the one you're gonna want to start with.

It looks phenomenal but it doesn't play well at all. Going back and forth through the zones are annoying because the level design sucks and a lot of enemies take a million hits to kill, and your hitboxes are way too short.

The games never hit the high note of a great game. I think Bozon/WF is too obsessed on sticking to its roots of backtracking/metroidvania bullshit. It's a really thought out, lovingly built universe but needs someone with a vision leading the development team.

shantae 6 better cover at least one of these; you can't just leave fans hanging like this, even when the storylines usually stay within the realm of some disney-afternoon type shit

Played the game on the 3ds a while back and thought it was okay. I would defiantly place it at an average to good rating in game play. Don't really know why but definitely felt like it lacked something.

Game has it perks thought to make it stand out. Bumpin' music, smooth character animation, some little neat details such as when you walk into light Shantae's sprite changes color palettes so it looks like she lights up.

Overall good game. Honestly not really sure if any of the other games in the series are worth checking out. They seem kinda samey. But yeah, pretty good game.
