I'm new to rom hacks and fan games and there are a ton of them out there, I heard many good things about Pokemon Insurgence and I quit after about twenty minutes because although the concept was great the writing was atrocious. What are your guys' all-time favourite rom hacks and fan games across any platform? I'd especially love a solid Castlevania hack or a JRPG/Pokemon hack that has good writing.

I guess that makes this a rom hack/fan game general, anybody know of some /vr/ romhack compilations?

My favourite Pokemon game is Pokemon Clover, i like it more than any other game either official or fan-made. I loved everything about it and for the first time i talked to every single npc, fought every single trainer and did every single possible thing to be done in that game (except finding all TMs).

Polished Crystal is the best improvment hack for gen 2. And Coral is the best original rom hack, it's not finished yet though. There's also Edelweiss, which looks great but there isn't even a demo out yet.

I'm thinking about trying theta emerald out. DS runs for shit on my both my phone and my nephew's, and he's been wanting to capture a lot of new pokemon. Can we trade and battle each other? Can we trade from regular emerald to theta (or convert an existing vanilla emerald save)?

I remember looking for a Gen 1 romhack that increased the difficulty while allowing all Pokemon to be obtainable in one playthrough a long time ago, but it was poorly made and their solution was to have a lvl 30 Aerodactyl show up in Mt. MOON with a 1/256 chance.
