what the fuck was their problem

>> No.7104431

Nothing. It was the fault of Americans for trying to use video games to make a quick buck on movie licensed games that sucked instead of putting effort into original properties.

>>7104431
Movie-licensed games can be good though, just look at Capcom's Willow or Rare's GoldenEye. It's just Americans are untalented and lazy mutts.

They made some good games. Maximum Carnage, True Lies and Spiderman and the X-Men, maybe scrap Spiderman & Xmen, it was ridiculously difficult.

I think the stuff they get hate for was usually developed by other companies. I'm not sure if they even did develop anything themselves or, if so, it might have technically been done through some sort of partner or subsidiary. The company that made Maximum Carnage *did* get bought eventually by Acclaim that also acquired LJN.

>>7104536
The most amusing one is Friday the 13th, which was apparently developed by Atlus of all companies. I'd have to imagine it was a victim of "we are just making what this overseas company is telling us to make for an overseas audience, so we're basically just pumping this out as quickly as possible to make a buck."

rare made shovelware for ljn too

ljn is mostly just a publisher with no eye for good video games, just safe marketing deals

Doing a google search doesn't count as playing them. You should give them a try, they have amazing music.

By this logic they never "made" bad games. LJN wasn't a developing studio, all their works were outsourced.

it does, you dipshit

They outsourced to beloved companies like Atlus, Rare, and Westons.
Non-LJN games by them were great. So why were the LJN ones shit?
Why did they fuck over LJN?
WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?

I hope you aren't lifting up Arcade's Revenge as something that's worth playing.

You don't think it has good tunes? I only rented it, but even if I bought it at least it'd have long replay value. I could never get anywhere in Gambit or Cyclops stages.

Mainly they were just a D-list publisher that picked up all the games no one else wanted. They did publish a few gems though, like Friday the 13th (fuck you, I liked it) and Total Carnage.

I absolutely love the tunes.

Can't stand the game itself.
