I don't know... I have a lot less respect for magazines like Classic GI, it doesn't feel "right", weren't what needed to be covered about these games covered back in their time? I'd rather read one of the magazines from that time period than "SO RETRO! LOOK AT ALL THIS NOSTALGIA!!!1!!11one!"

oh... I'm quite confused now... I thought from the name that Classic GI was one of those stupid "SO RETRO!!" magazines that popped up in the mid-00s... but the dates on those pages are 1997 and 2000... what's up with this magazine?...

Pretty much. It was kind of commonplace in magazines back then. GameFan had a similar thing, too.

It was always a nice feature, anyway. Hell, that's how I heard of Snatcher back in 2001.

I don't know.. if I was into actual gaming at that point I'd feel like it was pointless and it would probably rage me... games from that short period of time ago is not "classic" or "retro", it's like when the kids over at /mu/ talk about the nostalgia they had for music that was released last summer

>> No.710161

>>710148
It was less emphasis on hipster-esque "So retro" crap and more "Here's a few games you probably haven't heard of and can pick up for cheap".

Also, remember that Game Informer was Funcoland's thing (Then Gamestop after they bought out the company). I'm guessing they had a pretty big say into what goes into the magazine, and given that Classic GI pushed the sales of their older stuff which usually sat there, it's something.
