It might have to do with static images in videos taking up less space. Looking at the set, the first disc has Captain Tsubasa. That game has a lot of black screens and text.

Gyakuten Saiban is apparently on the second disc. It's a lot more colorful, but it still has plenty of static images and text and less overall animation than the average challenge game.

For instance I was watching earlier and heard the announcer say deguchi (exit) and I was only half paying attention while eating, but it was loud and clear. The issue I have right now I just don't know enough words to really get the whole sentence yet. Also Arino kinda slurs his stuff more, but I heard he speaks with an accent too so there's that.

It could go either way. The king usually speaks entirely in kana and is often cryptic or a little deceptive, so you can't always make an assumption from whether he uses a native word or a loanword. I've only done it with short shows, so it might take me a really, really long time to really get through an episode. I'm planning on starting with a newer episode.
My only hang up right now is my listening skills. Arino seems to slur his words a bit more than other people I've heard speak, so it's a bit harder to catch. If anyone has any Japanese subs, (maybe the DVDs would have them, right?), that would be nice.

Japanese closed captions seem to be a pretty low priority over there, unlike a lot of other countries. Episodes don't even have them at all when they're first on. The TV episodes now usually seem to get captioned eventually, but that could be weeks later when nobody is bothering to capture them.

That's more because it's a satellite show, they're not held to the same standards as terrestrial programming.

Even if the show was subtitled during its first airing, it wouldn't fucking matter. Most stuff in Japan is subtitled, and yet finding those subtitles is near impossible, and if you do find them, they aren't properly timed to the available raws most of the time. If you don't have direct access to a TV in Japan, you're basically shit out of luck, and the best you'll get is the odd drama where the chink who ripped it was nice enough to do it properly for once, which happens once in a blue moon.

Given current events, I hope Marchen Maze is put on the to do list for Goose Canyon, they were solid episodes even beyond the obvious joke.

The only bullshit was
They made it a multi season two parter like Quest of Ki, however it was just a single day of shooting and not multiple days, so it was a completely arbitrary decision to do that.

Just in case the people talking about Ogawa's name on the SA forum read this, besides being able to hear other staff clearly saying Ogawa, her Little River nickname in the fortune-telling segments is a dead giveaway. It's a very obvious pun on her name, since ogawa means stream.

I think the problem is a combination of the new episodes haven't been subbed so we don't get the full gist of many of the later ADs.
And more importantly, since we already had such solid ADs in the past, it's hard to see the new ones in good light too. Shit starts blurring after season 14.

So these official subs can then be used to make easier English subs then right? The timing is already done and the text is all spelled out. We can even just run them through google translate for some quick sloppy machine translated subs.

English translated subs wouldn't just be the spoken lines. They would also include most of the other text that appears on the screen, which I assume the Japanese captions would have no reason to include. The captions could certainly help with a lot of the translation, but they only get you part of the way there.

Useless cocksuckers never explain context. Is it "monogatari" or is it literally the English word "Story"? Those are totally separate things. If it's story written in Katakana, then it could be Yoshi's Story N64. A short little ugly game. Monogatari could be a lot more games though.
