Ok so basically I just want to know your guys' favorite Mega Man games. I think a rough estimate for when the retro era was is from the first Mega Man to Mega Man & Bass. And that's it.

I have beaten 1-8. All are great. I know it's cliché, but I think 2 is the best. 5 is a close runner-up. Then probably 3,6,7,8,4,1.

Same. They've piled on lots of nice stuff since then, but 2 was when Core-Megaman started.
>8 bosses
>Energy tanks
>Wily fortress map
>teleport station to re-fight 8 bosses
>Ball Passwords
Did I miss anything?

1, 5, 6, 7, 8, M&B, all the GB games and maybe the WonderSwan game (if that counts) are the only ones worth playing in that timeline.

I keep coming back to 6 & 7. Rush adapter was a fun gimmick without breaking the game. Also love that weapons can be used to explore and alter the environment in 7. 8 and MM&B felt like an overall regression with regards to weapon utility.

Legends and Battle Network do it for me. They have so much more attention put into the story and world. Zero and ZX are alright in that regard, too, being semi-open world at their core, but Legends and later BN/SF characters are more than just heroic archetypes or tragic villains. They add that bit of slice of life that is missing in all the robot timeline games.

Mega man 3 and 4 are tied. They are the best mega man games. 2 was dissappointing. I replayed all of them, and playing 2 on the original difficulty really is an eye opener. Making the game easy is probably why people say it is there favourite. 2 on difficult is just a really generic hard entry. At least it is not as bad as 6, the worst mega man game.

Regurgitated opinion from people that only play 2 on easy mode. It is the better half on the nes
>5
Maybe but at least there is fun. 6 is a boring game
>3
You have to be joking. It is tied with 3 and 4 for the best on nes. I assume you are talking about doc robot stages, which are just harder versions of the stage that made 2 players cry because they were not good at the game. I think you have not played the games. Everything you hear online is exaggerated.

>> No.7078030

>>7078025
>Regurgitated opinion
Maybe it's just a common opinion. Because it's true. Getting fucked out of beating the game because you didn't think to revisit Elec Man's stage after beating him or Guts is retarded
>Maybe but at least there is fun
Yeah riding the bike in Wave Man's stage was a real thrill, so were all of the shitty weapons
>You have to be joking.
The game is unpolished as shit, over half the weapons are completely useless, the fortress stages are piss-easy compared to even the robot master stages, the only issue with Doc Robot is that it was a lazy reuse of code from MM2 because the game was a rushjob.

>> No.7078068

>>7078025
5 is the least fun game.
3 and 4 are good but rough and needed more work.
2 is easy even on difficult mode, it just got some tedious bullshit, like booby trap room boss. Too easy in fact.

>> No.7078080

>>7078030
Have you played them? Actual question, because I do not care what games you think are better, but you are lying.
>revisit Elec Man's stage
Complete non complaint. If you play the game, you see a weapon that you cannot get in his stage. Either you have guts mans weapon and know what to do (because guts man moved rocks in his fight), or you see the weapon out of reach, and keep it in mind until you put the peices together. Another regurgitated opinion. Please give actual reasons.
>shitty weapons
That is every mega man game after 1. Better than a weapons in 2 being ridiculously strong or useless with no in between.
>mega man 3
>half the weapons are useless
Mega man 3 is actually more balanced than your average mega man weapon. The only shit weapon was spark mans. Snake search shadow blade, top spin, better than only 1 good weapon in 2.
>unpolished with reused assets
Anon its an nes game. Thats par for the course, and the game still makes up for it with fun levels, the best ost on the nes, and lots of replay value.

>> No.7078119

>>7078080
>Have you played them?
I've played more Mega Man games than you've even familiar with.
>you see the weapon out of reach
Or you fail to notice it because you're trying not to die, or you forget about it because Elec Man is the toughest boss in the game.
That's my only real complain with MM1, but it is inferior to 2, 4, and 6, I'd say.
>That is every mega man game after 1
2 has good weapons, as does 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 11. 10 was mediocre, but 3 and 5's weapons all sucked dick.
>The only shit weapon was spark mans.
Top Spin was buggy, Gemini Laser slowed the game to a crawl, Hard Knuckle was impossible to hit with, Needle Cannon had no reason whatsoever to exist, Shadow Blade was just a shitty and nerfed Metal Blade. Literally the only decent weapons were Magnet Missile (which often missed moving targets and was done better as Gyro Attack) and Search Snake (which was inferior in most situations to the buster). Fuck, not a single weapon in MM3 is actually worth using, now that I think about it.

>> No.7078198

>>7078119
>you fail to notice it because you're trying not die die
You are just fucking rearded. It is literally the only thing on that screen. You would know that if you were more "familiar" with the games than me. And if that is your only complaint then I guess its great?
>2 has good weapons
Shit tier
>atomic fire
>bubble lead
>leaf shield
>flash stopper
Okay tier
>quick boomerang
>crash bomber
>air cannon
Broken untested tier
>metal blade
Please do not tell me you use metal blade. Unbalanced as shit and breaks th game in half. Also most weapons in 2 are shit, or situational enough to make them sort of good. I'm not going to argue too much on the mega man 3 weapons because I only use like 3, but none of them are broken like 2. Also 5s weapons arent the problem, the game is too easy, and the mega buster does alot of damage. The good of mega man 3 doesnt come from the weapons, yet you focus alot on them. Why else do you think 3 is bad?

>nothing new
Rush Jet/Power Adaptors, branching pathways, Energy Balancer, epic robot fighting tournament setting, Wily finally goes to prison at the end, first game to include North American Robot Master designs (Knight Man and Wind Man)

I love the whole series, each game is special to me. Megaman 1 is the game I come back to the least. The pause menu system in 2 and 3 is extremely annoying compared to 4 onward. I have a nostalgic love for the first 3. Some of the best music in all of gaming. But they are overall the weakest in the series.

>And if that is your only complaint then I guess its great?
MM1 great? Nah, I think the level design is pretty mediocre across the board (Ice, Guts, Elec all suck), but that's more of a subjective thing.
>flash stopper
That's an MM4 weapon though. Also Leaf Shield is fine, so that's only 3 of the 8 weapons in MM2 that are bad. Which is why I'd put 2 below 4 or 6 as well.
