Was this game good?
Was this game bad?
You decide.

i got bored and let my seaman die. i felt kinda bad about it and it was semi enjoyable. he says clever things but i felt like it wasn't as impressed as i'd be if i had played it as a kid. should i give it another try?

>> No.7067390

The most frustrating thing is not being able to marathon it unless you change your system clock. It's made to be played a small to moderate amount every day over the course of months

>> No.7067396

Oh, and you also can't just leave it running day in and day out either to just pick up and interact with when you're bored or out gets your attention because he needs like 50x as much food while the game is on than while it's off. That also kind of broke the illusion for me.

It was good. Loved it.

I'll bite :)
Seaman, for how ridiculous the concept of a >>7067337
a fish with a human face is, does an excellent job of being believable as to how they spawn, how they talk and age, how the tank is maintained, and showing the harshness of concepts like survival of the fittest. It's not like I think this game is a masterpeece but it's definitely captivating to play.
also it has spock.

accidentally replied to my own post in the middle of that, my bad.

It has progressive LGBT views so that is cool but not a good game in itself.

It was kind of neither?
You know that feeling you get when you play an educational game? It's like that. It's interesting, for certain but fun, at least in the traditional gaming sense isn't really a word I'd use.

I personally think it's offensive to call LGBT views progressive.
To call them progressive implies that they never belonged in the first place. We should simply accept LGBT views without question and consider it the now.

Seaman... like.... CUMMIES?

That´s not what the word progress means.

I wish 2 would have gotten translated, I'd love to play it. Or even a new one. Something about Seaman was endlessly amusing to me even if the game is a little basic

>>7067538
It doesn't imply that but yeah LBGT views don't belong.

A novelty that lost its charm in about 45 min

>> No.7067840

>>7067337
It was ahead of its time. Basicly a crude version of ai dungeon.

>> No.7068453

I liked it, but I can understand the complaints, it's more of a novelty or an "experience" rather than a game, still very well made for the time
Also, I'm surprised there are no other games nowadays that try to replicate what this game did, I had a concept for a Seaman tribute sort of game where you talked to a bird but I gave up on it

never played but my favorite e-celeb said it's good, so it's good.
