I currently have mine hooked up to my main CRT through scart but was wondering if I should look into hdmi adapters and mods. How do you guys play your xbox games?

>> No.7034656

most of the worthwhile Xbox games have been ported to better platforms.

I just use S-Video with the advance AV pack on my crt.

Are you european? Use component instead.
>How do you guys play your xbox games?
Component because I have a burger system that actually supports 480p.

Fuck off.

Yeah and my CRT is scart and composite only. Is Xbox component good on a HDTV? I remember there being noticeable lag when using component cables for my PS2 and Wii.

Xbox looks awesome on HDTVs. Just had a huge session of The Sims 2 in 720p, shit's beautiful

>> No.7035561

Composite with a shitty CRT because thats how 6th gen was meant to be played
>b-but it can do 720p and 1080i!
So what?

If you honestly think xbox games look best through composite video, you're kidding yourself. CRT I can understand but for God's sake get a set that supports RGB or component out.

480p via component on a PC CRT. New old stock Dell branded Trinitron.

Will I get a clean 480p signal if I get a cheap component cable and plug it into pic related for my monitor?

HDMI here. I even managed to get a Pound cable that wasn't shit.

I mostly use my CRT downstairs in the workshop for lightgun games.

I use the component pack then it goes into the ossc.

If you want to be period accurate, component video is most accurate. You'd gain approximately nothing from modding it, with none of the good games being more than 480p. Some were HD, but they weren't good.

Why the hell would you even bother at that point? You already using scart cable which is the best one for European consoles and CRT TVs.

I'm limited to 480i with my current arrangement. Would be nice to see these games in progressive scan with minimal input lag.

Is it? Come on, I'm sure the guy has an HDTV, a component cable wouldn't hurt, especially since 99% of Xbox games support progressive scan.

I just use component on my HDTV.

If all you have is component:

Xbox is better on HDTV
PS2 is better on CRT

>480P
>OSSC
>OLED

>> No.7038001

I use the official component box thing through a transcoder to a CRT monitor.

>> No.7038351

Case by case basis honestly
if you have a good pair of component cables/HDMI upgrade then LCD/OLED is a good choice when you enable 480p + 720p with 16:9 and few other options on Softmodded Xbox.
I have a LCD HDTV from 05 and it looks beautiful.
I'd love to see how it looks on CRT but don't have one nor the space for one at the current moment. I'm sure some look fantastic on it though.

I have two xboxes, one hooked up via the HDMI cable and one hooked up via rgb scart to a crt. (i like to watch movies on it)

Can't say I ever used the HDMI cable enough to notice any lag, but if you're worried about that then use component cables. (which is what i used before getting the HDMI cable for ease of use)

>>7037283
I can't seem to get a straight answer for this, are you saying rgbs from an xbox cannot go higher than 15hz? I got a 1.6 and I'm not taken to getting rid of it until I know for sure that it is essentially useless to try to get rgb from an xbox.

>OG Xbox: Analogue or Digital
Depends on who are you are and what you're trying to do.
>How do you guys play your xbox games?
Video going into an adapter (digital) so I can play on an LCD, in the future I might get a smallish CRT. Audio going straight into an early 90s stereo (analog).
