I still am waiting Nintendo to make one

>> No.7019529

I've had a Sega CD for quite a long time now. They fail easily, 2 out of my 3 don't work and the one that does sometimes freezes.

I have a model 2 that doesn't work but I still keep it around. I just play my original Sega CD games ont he Kega Fusion emulator using my actual PC CD-drive.

Surprisingly, the only one I have that works best is a model 1. My model 2 doesn't boot and my cdx kind of works but randomly resets frequently enough to be unplayable.

There was a time when they were cheap (though I had to pay a lot for the CDX), and the games were mostly dirt cheap, too. I wouldn't recommend anyone buy one now.

how cheap we talking?

The Nintendo CD is technically a Philips CDi.

70ish for Genesis + CD. I'm not old enough to have gone around grabbing these at yard sales when they were basically free or anything. Sealed games for under 10 bucks, many games that go for ludicrous prices like Terminator for under 20 bucks.
Terminator is a great example of why its certainly not worth buying any of this stuff today. Terminator on Sega CD is fairly fun, but its still a western developed run and gun.

It's probably just a bad fuse. That's actually an easy fix. There are plenty of videos that show you how.

Didnt they hire the same nigga for the 32x commercial?

I wanted one of these badly, Sega mogged Nintendo badly with this one.

I remember I was visiting relatives one time and they said they had cd-rom and I thought they said they had a Mega CD, I was so excited that I rushed to have a look and it was just a 386 or 486 pc. I was used to 8 bit graphics so I played for a bit and my reaction was that these early cd-rom programs were not even games. Despite what people say I was absolutely not impressed with the 256 colour vga graphics.

So... Mega SD or Mega Everdrive Pro?

>> No.7020847

>>7020770
I have the Mega SD, works fine. I think krikkz should have updated the existing mega everdrive. He always releases something and then does a better one 2 years later. I also have the neo pro, good quality case on that too. To his credit he was the first one to do sd card loading.

We have sonic 2 special edition, nintendo has no nintendo CD

>> No.7020870

Got one just to play Road Avenger.
Found a Model 2 as untested probably broken alongside a Mega Drive Model 2, though it also had the MD Model 1 extension plastic with it. No cables.
Already had a Model 1 MD so I just plugged that into it and it works perfectly.
Hell of a time finding a power supply until I figured out you can just use a 12V as long as it's center negative.

unironically yes since if it's nintendo made it would have games and be high quality hardware

Nintendo actually managed to never make a console capable of reading CDs. Gamecube and Wii have DVD only drives.

Mine has the CD drive totally destroyed, and probably some fuse too yeah, also probably the power AC is broken. PCB looks fine though.

>> No.7023130

I was fortunately enough to find an X'Eye at the flea market back in the good old days that is my primary Genesis and Sega CD player. I hope it doesn't crap out on me. I'm wary of its laser.
